Hello folks, currently my 750 Ti FTW is barely getting the 1.5M mark, so my fund for my for 2nd folder card is slowing down.  A friend was recently re-diagnosed with cancer after beating it for 10 years, so all the more reason for me to accelerate my efforts.

I'm looking for the most efficient folder for under $100, I've got 80 "bucks" to spend and not much more to spare.

Thanks everyone!

The price threshold is the most difficult. You stated efficiency, each generation is more efficient power wise than the previous. And they also provide usually more PPD {point per day} than previous. The 900's are a pretty good series for this. I definitely understand budget restrictions. If you could reach the 50 posts required for the market here ,I think that would be the best bet. Is it possible you could go $100, or is $80 more realistic? You can only do what you can do, there is really never a good reason to make it a financial problem for this. I do see a few deals that are a bit above $100. Truthfully ,I'm not sure what is the absolute minimum card for the goal you want. Probably will be a 700 series. If any one knows please chime in.

Question for you: the 750ti is it folding 24/7 for the 1.5 mil?

Seems I've not seen the 50 post market thing?

Yes, I'm running the 750 Ti FTW 24/7, I'm missing the 1.5M mark about 25% of the time.  As for efficiency I was more meaning maximum production for the dollar, power efficiency isn't a huge deal.

You are meaning 1.5 million ppd for what?  A week a month.  I don't think that is a day.

Thanks Toyking, if I decide to go that route that's what I'll do, but at this point I'm trying to use mostly my EVGA bucks only.  Starting to look like I'll need to save a few more bucks, the 740 FTW is in the range, but the PPD is terrible compared to the 750 Ti.

One word of caution when buying older hardware to hit the bucks target is that with the arrival of the more powerful 10x0 series cards, when the new folding year comes in 6 months the folding targets are very likely to be set significantly higher.  The 1060 will be hitting shelves soon, it should easily hit the targets for several years but unfortunately is out of your price range.

The best place to buy older hardware is to buy used on a trading forum or ebay to get a fair price - which obviously don't accept EVGA bucks.

I heard someone mention that a large B-stock sale is coming soon to coincide with EVGA's anniversary celebration - might be worth checking out to get the lowest price on hardware with EVGA bucks.  (Currently you can get a 970 from B-stock for $200)

Very good point, in that case, I'm going to hold off a few more months and see how this goes.  Good info, wouldn't want to buy in to reach the mark and then be stuck again.

There will be some deals coming up with the anniversary sale. Jacob said lots of new B-stock and lower prices. Might make a difference on the 750ti.

Very excited folks, got an unexpected work bonus, so was able to order up the the B Stock 950 SSC, can't wait to see what kind of number I can get!  (I know it's not impressive to many folks, but it's the best card I've ever had.)

I'll be plenty for me, I haven't been stuck at rank 740-750 for months.  Time for "mahead" and "spenza" to watch out.  :)

So I've got a dumb question... and this happens to me every time I reinstall the FAH client, it's running, but it's not on my taskbar.  I reinstalled about 4 times and can't figure it out.

BTW, early results so far as looking very good for numbers, but I'm wait to report when it's stabilized!

UPDATE:  Currently it's sliding up and down between 200k and 300K PPD between the 750 Ti FTW and the 950 SSC.  That's up from 86K with just the 750 Ti.   (Also, this "B Stock" card appears flawless to me, I look all over for the cosmetic defect and couldn't find anything.)

My 950 gets about 150K PPD and my 750 Ti does about the same as yours.  Add a 980ti, and that is my total folding output.

Very cool, are you running them all in 1 box with 3 ports?  Maybe in a year or two I'll be looking for a board with three 3 or 4 ports.

Just an fyi for the future if anyone read this thread.  Incredibly, my Antec 380 Watt PSU is running both cards at standard boosted speeds alongside my 4 drives in 2 RAID 0 pairs and AM3 Quad core (95W) at 3.6Ghz (OC'd from 3.0Ghz).

Two boxes.  980ti and 750ti are in one dedicated PC.  The 950 is in my main productivity box.

Quick question, does your 950 (currently 0x18 P9676) the last few days tend to get small PPD WU's than your 750 (0x18 10490)?  Seems like it should be the opposite.

Honestly, I don't check it that carefully.  I only make sure that everything is running at 100%.  That said, here are the WU's that are still in my log file for each card and hopefully that answers your question:

My 750ti currently has a brutal 9209 unit.  16k ppd... TPF 57 minutes...  91.5% complete, with 8 hours to go. I think it's been working on it for four days now.  Was wondering why my production was down 90K or so.  Oh well, good to get this unit done, so no one else gets it.
