I also saw no graphical differences between the two csaa settings. And same here, a very slight increase in FPS with 16x csaa versus 32x csaa.

A 17 part guide? Its not that complicated...
I'm assuming the windows registry mods that give you a better ping wont be in this guide... cause you know... that would be cheating and dishonest.
Troll much?
Perhaps if you bothered to but some effort into your config and gaming skills, you wouldnt have to hack your OS registry and play with dishonor in the multiplayer servers.
There are those who can PLAY and run their systems cleanly and fairly... And then there are those who try to gain a unfair advantage running background programs and using registry hacks instead of running clean and working on their skillsets or upgrading their hardware.
Dont bother looking in this thread for cheats or dishonorable tricks, your not going to find any
-->luckly those like you are not the majority on these fourms.
Thanks for your support, in my effort to help people run BFBC2 without issues.
Ignore that guy; your guide is very well written and informative. Those of us that know our way around PCs can skip over the nicely detailed step by step instructions; inexperienced players will no doubt appreciate and find them very useful during their BFBC2 configuring. Excellent work.

Thank you for your effort and time. My gaming experience has been awesome using your settings. I have one other question. During the game, I will lose EA connection to their servers. I have to "X" out and restart the game. This loss of connections varies from server to server. Is it an EAs issue or is there a settings somewhere in the game. Thanks again.

Loss of connection to the EA servers can be all kinds of things, from a bad night for EA to loss of packets on your end. I would suggest looking for anything else running in the background while your playing as a first step. Thanks for the nice comment bro

As noted in my guide, I have recommended that the settings be changed in the control panel "Global Tab". This is suggested, as a user is less likely to make a mistake there and the global settings panel can be "reset". *there are a few other reasons I suggest this, but that is the simplest answer.

I am able to play Vietnam fine but vanilla BC2 CTD for me. I've tried 270.61, 275.33, 275.50, and 280.19. All of them CTD in Surround for vanilla BC2. Of course, my settings are maxed out and I have 16xCSAA at 8100x1600. Could turning the AA down fix it? And, it is ridiculous to have to turn down the AA when we spend so much $$$ on our rigs and games. It should work out of the box.

I would definitely try turning down the AA. At 8100x1600 thats a HUGE stress, try x16 MSAA and x8MSAA

Maniac, i followed your instructions to the alphabet, and it worked ! Flawlessly ... didn't crash at all so far. I gotta buy you some beers lol But i've got 2 questions if you don't mind The FPS is usually stable at 100+ but sometimes it drops to 45-50ish momentarily for seconds, then goes back up to 100+, sometimes not even with any heavy action around me. Is this normal or somethings not quite right? 2nd, after updating all the recommended and important updates from windows update, my speedtest.net result fluctuates.. before starting it hovers at 0, then suddenly jumps up to 4-5mbps then spikes up to 15-17mbps download speed before finally showing a result of an average of 11-12mbps download speed. my internet is a 10mbps package. However upload speed doesn't behave like this, the indication is a smooth consistent speed reading. Ping was 5ms from a usual server. It wasn't behaving like this at all right after reformating. Just would like to know, did the update screwed up the network settings ?

Great news, congrats bro I belive your (2) issues may be the same thing, alittle ISP congestion and throttle. *I suggest not making any changes and just wait till the weekend network traffic is over during the week and just watch your connection for a while and see if it firms up and the FPS issue goes away.... **Its doubtful the update did anything (just remember to NOT do any optional or hardware updates)

Try turning off the computer, then unpluging your modem for a few minutes. Then plug it back in, wait a few minutes and crank up the comp and do some testing. I know it seems simple, but sometimes it can work wonders.

Question maniac. I have seen on other sites that if you are having connectivity issues (I am guessing this is the CTD problem, which is still occuring for me although not so often as before) that you can open certain ports. Do you recommend this? If so, how do you do it? If not, then forget it. Thanks again!

The only people who "might" need to custom config ports using BFBC2 are those behind multiple devices. And even then, users running BFBC2 when correctly installed with the proper Admin rights shouldnt have to use a custom config. 98% of the time, connection issues are not caused by "port issues", they are caused by running background programs or services that conflict or by "sharing" a connection.... I have never had to change anything with my connection or ports to run BFBC2 flawlessly, as such I really have no experience to share with others. If a user "feels" they might need to custom configure BFBC2, then a quick Google will give them all the information needed to do so. I do not suggest it

Hmmm. Okay. It doesn't sound like anything I need to get in to then. One thing I have not tried yet is using evga precision to boost my gpu fan speed. I have thought for a while that my ctd problem is heat related. But my gpu heat level was not really that high so again, I dismissed it. My temps are usually around 140-150F. Do you know of Bfbc2 being sensitive to heat levels? I know it is kind of a no brainer that everything runs better cooler when it comes to PC's. Could this be my problem? My ctd usually doesn't happen until I am about an hour or so into a game. And then it persists. Thanks again bro.

The game would not be sensitive to heat, but the GPU would be. If high GPU heat is occuring, you would probably be getting artifacts and then the driver would crash. Or if the heat is high enough, the card itself would shutdown. You may want to check your CPU temp as well and backdown on a high overclock. BFBC2 is very sensitive to CPU overclocks and a lack of sufficient CPU voltage.

No OC here. And my temps I don't think are high. But I am going to try boosting gpu fan anyway. Can't hurt and might be my issue. I am gonna feel mighty stupid if after all this it is a simple over heating issue.

I am thinking older card, more stress playing this demanding game, needs more cooling. Hopefully we're right. Well let you know soon. Thanks again for all the help.

Make SURE your Windows firewall is turned ON and running. Then DISABLE--> Kaspersky Antivirus when playing BFBC2 Below is a SS of what I have running when playing My Creative drivers, Afterburner, a default Windows PS2 keyboard driver for my G6V2 and my mouse drivers... and thats it About 33 processes, zero CPU use and below 10% memory at BFBC2 launch

Hey guys, first time posting here. I currently have an evga 580 sc and I used your guide, maniac, for tweaking bfbc2. It was a huge performance improvement, however, I think I should be getting better image quality at a distance. I followed your guide almost to the T (minus AO in NVCP). I currently have everything maxed with 32x CSAA (using an 880Mhz/2200Mhz OC on 1.050V; very stable on my card), enabling AF in NVCP, AA mode in game, multisample, and pretty much everything in the rest of your guide. I've tried playing with bloom both on and off and don't notice any difference in draw distance quality. Using 1920x1080 monitor. Also, I only edited the program settings of BFBC2 itself for the majority of the tweaks, rather than global. Here is what I'm talking about: Really bad aliasing on the haybales and bland texture: Bad quality of character models and terrain: *Look up Infinite Jest in the steam community for my uploaded pics (first 4)* Am I off in left field or should I be getting better quality? Also, is there some way to limit the amount of texture pop-up or are we stuck with this problem in bfbc2? VRAM usage sits in the mid 800mb range out of 1.5GB. Thanks. (EDIT: Can't post links )

Welcome to the EVGA fourms bro Yeah, cant post links till your over a 25 post count I belive.... sorry I would check your config settings file (BFBC2 folder) to see if the AF code there is correct... As for popup, the stronger your CPU the better. Since you have some extra Vram, you could certainly add in AO and even try forcing some pure AA, it all depends on what FPS your are comfortable with and how taxed your CPU is at the higher settings. Feel free to try things out and see what works best for you

Everything is fine in the .ini file, my cpu is chugging along nicely at 4.5Ghz (i5 2500k), and even with settings changed to gloabl and using forced AA, there is still that quality issue (not to mention some texture pop-up). Could someone upload some reference images so I know what I should be looking at quality wise? EDIT: Added vietnam screenies and it looks even worse! I'm really disappointed. I put a good amount of time into the game on the 360 version and it's arguably better looking at a distance than what I'm getting right now.

Ok... So I have steam installed on a secondary hdd that holds my games while my OS is installed on an ssd. I moved the game over (Steam mover) to the SSD and it seems to have fixed my problems. It's not often I find a magical fix, but this seems to be on of them.
