Hog54 Never had a problem with the game by just installing it and playing it.Never had to do any tweaks to anything. If you have to do all that stuff in this guide, get another computer.

Thats what AUTO does, sets it according to -->what your graphic card (and OS) supports -->Forcing a value on that setting should not be done, unless your trying to gain framerates by dropping it.

Hi Maniacvvv, Tried all your setting last night, I had forgot about that bloom issue and reverting back thing. Since I built my new rig, P67 FTW and my two GTX 580's I was just dragging along like my player was tired although everything was smooth and my frame rate was averaging around 180. Since changing to your settings to the "T" my player was more reactive and faster, but my frame rates had decreased to an average around 140, which is still actually fine. I'll play with the settings a little more to see if it was just the bloom setting that made the change. I had everything in the BC2 options already set to what you had, but I hadn't played with the NV or the game ini. thanks for your help

Hello maniacvvv, thank you for the time you put in to your post. You obviously know what you are talking about and it's refreshing. There are so many people putting info online re: this topic that don't have a clue. On to my issue. I am running an older system and I want to know what you would suggest I do to get a stable gaming experience. Hopefully that's possible. I having been experiencing regular CTD's and recently BSOD with memory dump. I tried to catch what the error code was last night while playing, I believe it said 0x3b. I read your entire post and applied as much of it as I could to my setup. And the game ran smoother than ever last night, but unfortunately, still CTD and BSOD. Both within an hour. I think I may have an idea as to what you will say and what the problem is, but I have thought that many times before and have been wrong. So I am going right to you with my problem and avoid an more stress trying to figure this out on my own. Okay, so you need my system specs: Windows 7 x64 (fully updated), Intel dual core e7400 2.8 oc'd to 3.4 (w/aftermarket rosewill cooler), nvidia gts250 512mb with the drivers installed that you suggested above (and all the settings you recommended, as best as they applied to me), 4gigs of 1066 DDR2 on a GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3R mobo (with F12 newest bios). If you need any other info on my system ask. On to the game settings. I also adjusted the settings in the exact way you described above and was very hopeful to end the CTD problem. My audio is set to low quality and bloom is false. voip is false as well. However, I do have the resolution of the game set to 1280x1024 I believe. I'm not home right now but I'm pretty sure it's that or near that. And all the other graphics settings are on high. The way you described above. So now that I did pretty much everything you said above and still have problems, I am thinking it is my hardware that cannot handle the settings that I have set in the game. It is the only possible thing I can think of. My friends play this game with no problem but they have newer systems with quad cores. I have a dual core. And above you said if you still get CTD's after trying everything stated, lower your graphics settings. So, like I said above, I am pretty sure that is what you are going to say, but I am done guessing. I need to know for sure now. The game runs pretty well at my settings. But maybe my processor just craps out after a while. So maniac, please help me figure this out once and for all. Tell me what I need to do. I don't plan on upgrading my hardware anytime really soon, so I really want this to work. Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

Hi bro and welcome to the EVGA Fourms Yeah, with that hardware low to medium overall graphics settings. That will help alot... I also suggest turning the "Multisample" Transparency setting to OFF. *dont forget to go back into the BFBC2 folder in My Documents and reset BLOOM to =false ** You could also Force DX9 in the settings file for a good jump in FPS. You will have to test, because higher FPS will also increase the load on the CPU. But my suggestion for the biggest gain (and fewer CTD's) has to do with the servers you play on. What you want is lower player counts and the smaller map sizes. This will really help your framerates/stabilty on that system with those specs, by making the CPU and graphics overhead much less. Some servers host maps that are 1/3 the size of the regular maps, given your specs I would suggest trying to stay below 24 players, with 16 players or less being the best performer. Good luck and happy gaming

Hi Maniacvvv, WOW!!! Just wow! I followed the majority of your settings (just a personal preference but changed my fov to 65 instead of 75) and it made a big improvement in the smoothness of BC2. Even though my framerates dropped a little bit (from avg 110 to about 85) I feel like I am floating as I run in the game. I thought going from a single 570 to a dual helped a lot, but this was major improvement. Thanks again and keep up the great work!

Your welcome! Yes, the settings can make a big difference to the "feel" of the game. The word "wow" is often used to describe the reaction when ones game runs the way it was intended

Yep Alot of folks have been using incorrect information about the speaker codes. I cannot tell you how many players have said to me on TS "what, I dont hear ANY that... you do?" If you get your sound settings correct.. yes, you do *This is NOT to say if your having problems, you shouldnt test out dfifferent setings (as noted in my guide).

Check your--> DXversion =AUTO (line in the settings file) Having only x1 showing is from running the game in DX9 *also as noted in the guide, you must do the NVCP settings first before continuing on to the setting file. EDIT: I had forgotten about that. I went back and edited my guide to mention that issue

I have just recived a PM from a member asking about why his Ambient Occlusion setting was greyed out in his Nvidia control panel.... It appears that the setting when using stereoscopic 3D ->It is "greyed out" in the global settings tab And can only be found in the Program Setting TAB of the NVCP under the BFBC2.exe. *I have no idea if it will work or not. Since I have no experience with a 3D surround config and BFBC2, I really cannot share any (personal) information about running the game with such a setup... Sorry guys, I am waiting for new monitor models to be released before making that upgrade for BF3

Do you have any advice for CTD with surround? This is not 3D, but just surround with 3 monitors. I get CTD every time I play. I did try to turn off Bloom and I must say the game looks better and I don't get the horrible light problems anymore, but still CTD. Thanks for any help. I know the guide is not done. The last stable driver I used for the game was 266.58. Every driver beta or WHQL since has CTD.

I dont have any personal experience with surround bro.... I could make some suggestions. -->Try setting "Effects" to Medium-->then test -->Try forcing DX10 (as explained in the guide)--> then test --> make sure your NOT using any "overlay" software like the Afterburner or Precision OSD (known to cause issues) --> If your CPU is overclocked, try a very small bump to the voltage (known to help in BFBC2) Sorry I cant be more helpful in this area. Perhaps someone with Surround experience will post better information.
