I'm all in for the moment until I can get some more hardware.
Might be able to add another rig to the mix if I get the loaner CPU.
Might have something in the works.
We can do this, lets fold!

I found a trade-off with the Noctua fans.  While they are really super quiet running, it looks like they don't offer as much air flow as my other fans.  But it is borderline in cooling capcity, so I won't be able to OC any further.  But I wasn't planning to exceed 3.6GHz anyways on the old i7 930, becuase that would require me turning up the voltages.  But at least it is so quiet, I'm going to leave it folding 24/7, with the GPU in the mix during work hours.  I am thou taking Mercury offline from folding.  It needs a better CPU fan and the one I just installed is quiet, but doesn't have the cooling capcity to compete in folding.  I may switch it over to crunching for a while and see well it does at that.

Mercury: Intel i5 3570k 3.6GHz / ASRock Z68 mITX / 2 x 4GB Corsair XMS3

Doesn't surprise me there.
Noctuas are pretty low pressure fans, they're not so great
for radiator fans.  you need a higher pressure fan for radiator duty.

I fired up a SR-2 just for old times sake.  Its my server and I only dedicated 22 cores leaving 2 open for its general tasks.  Right now it is just running a SMB unit but I am running the -bigadv flag.

I just put Mercury back to folding after downclocking it from 3.4 to 3.0.  Had to do that to make temps stay within safe levels.  So I went from 10k PPD to 7.5k PPD.  And then Mercury had to get a 10090 WU and that killed my production (only 2.5k PPD).  Oh well, at least its a work week and the GTX560 Ti is being used now to fold.

My newer of my 2 GTS 450's is folding nicely, Core clock 822, Shader 1645, Memory 1804, Fan Speed 50% and Temp is currently 58C. The weather is warming up here too.

I'd be getting more PPD and folding more WUs if this motherboard wasn't so fussy (I've had a few mobo assist offers and there's something in the works there just taking some time) I'd be able to fold both 450's but it BSOD's when the second one is in.

Possibly a stupid idea, and I usually run stupid ideas past Madrias first before I speak of them, I've a GTX 280 (was my bros), Would it be worth trying it in the 2nd GPU slot on this fussy motherboard or would it likely make my computer blue screen like trying to run both 450's did?
The BSOD's stopped after I took out the 2nd 450 and computer has been running reasonably since.

On mention of Madrias I haven't heard from him in 2 weeks, So to describe myself as stir crazy or going a little insane with worry and stress is an understatement. And I'm suffering from random moments of bursting into tears.

Ya I dropped both my I7 860's down last week to 2.9 from 3.6Ghz & lowered the vcore voltage because of temperatures.
They say some cooler weather should be coming our way here on the gulf cost soon.
Looking forward to opening some windows & cutting off the AC's. My power bill is going to be crazy for this past month. Not looking forward to gettng it.

Yeah, I think the last we heard from him here was on Sept 10th when he said:
"Well, I'm officially at the library, but they've got massive restrictions on programs signing in.  All stuff will have to be done through PM, cause Steam and Yahoo are blocked, as well as Skype and a lot of other programs.

It's gonna be a long few months..."

Sounds like he was going to be having a hard time communicating with people.  Keep your chin up and know that we are rootin' (and praying for ya) to make contact with him soon.

Yes that's when I last heard from him too, he was instant messaging me via Web Messenger in yahoo mail. So there's that form of communicating. IM chat within the email.

Thanks Tex.

Also another reason I'm hesitant on seeing if the GTX 280 will work in this computer I don't want anything to go wrong with it or have it offline, it's my only way of staying "available" 24/7, other than a faulty laptop.

You're gonna lose one of my rig's(1st i7) for part of the day tomorrow
It will be down for maintenance (SSD rails,Cleaning- RETIM, install the GTX670 & remove the 9500  - make this the gaming/folding rig)

Project day for me starting tomorrow- parts are finally all in
2nd i7 will be the 24/7 SMP folder...I'll break it in with the 9500

My Q6600 will be up spewing on it's 570 tho

If you want ongoing updates on the progress of new build I'll post them on a thread tomorrow with pics of my rigs
the q6600/gtx570 will be nasty...real dirty/hasn't been cleaned and no cable management (It's getting retired anyways)
It's been non-stop gaming/postin/foldin on it

Usually my computer chokes on 76xx WUs but it's almost 1/2 way through a 2nd one as of yesterday and doing okay. I made an adjustment or 2.

I've still got to fix my Moms computer, then I should be able to get either my other 450 or the 285 folding.
(I was saying the GTX 280, but it's a 285, I've never been allowed to touch or look as it was bros GPU so I was going by what I thought the blurred cable obscured number was in a pic, he moved cross country so ha ha Ima gonna use his GPU, told him that too before he left said "I'm gonna fold your GPU." He gave me an "Are you serious?" look lol. Damn straight I'm serious ha ha.) Itd only be a few more points with either of those GPUs folding, but every point counts.

Side note: No word from Madrias for almost 3 weeks now. Only thing I can/could do is write a letter but it takes 10 working days to get from AU to US. Same vice versa if he wrote back.

Not trying to bust any bubbles, but we & all teams were short yesterday since there was no 12am update for the team.
Update server must been down. So that's 2/3mil of yesterdays points that got carried over to today's point count.
Still great job, keep up the good work everyone.

ive had to back off my clocks till i reinstall teh old EVGA Precision, teh new one wont let me change teh 560 Ti voltages, it just keeps changing the 580 voltages. I guess because noone is crazy enough to put a 580 and 3x 560 Ti in one system? I donno but it needs fixing in the next release! Fold on all!

Small bump in my points coming. Think I found a 280 to pick up and fold on. It'll feel good to go back up in points for a change instead of down.
