I pulled a Madris a few days back.  Pulled out the old laptop and started to fold on it again.  That was a real head banger.  For those folks old enough in folding, 750 PPD was a good amount back in 2006.  Not anymore.  So my Sony Vaio laptop finished a few WU's for a whooping  1,200 points.  I think I will let this piece of hardware slide into retirement from folding.  Besides, I have other rigs that are much more faster and energy effiecent per PPD values goes.  And Mercury is possibly going mobile rig folding, if I can find that dang inverter somewhere in this house.

He'd smile if he saw that.

Got me thinking and into gear I just put my folding back on, as long as I don't get 75xx or 76xx WUs which make my computer run too slow and freeze up I'll fold, I stop for a little while when I keep getting the mentioned WUs.

I heard from Mad back on the 10th he's okay. And February is still too far away to wait for him to be back.

Fold on all!

Ya AB thanks, I need to get me a better EVGA. I took the one I added to my sig from one of the banners above.
Had to crop, paste & shrink it down to fit so it has lost some of its glimmer. I'm still looking, maybe I'll fine a better suited one.

Wolf,

Here's the EVGA Marketing web-page where you cab get a hi-res version of the logo.  Then you can re-size it, re-color, etc to your needs.

Trying to, but these 764x WU are eating too much CPU cycles.  They take over 24 hours to fold on Crystal & Mercury.

Ya I know, sometimes on some of my rigs I don't fold GPU just because it cuts to hard into my CPU client times
hurting the bonus it would get to much also.

Oh no, these aren't GPU WU's, they are SMP WU's.  GPU folding I already that it slows up SMP folding, but it also makes the video laggey.  So I only GPU fold when I'm not going to use the PC, which is when I'm gone to work.

2 rigs here will be starting back up soon.  It just needs to be consistently cool here to do so.  Haven't folded since spring so I'll have to see if clients need updating, etc but it shouldn't be long.

Edit: wow my sig is outdated.  I'm running GTX470 and 1000W PSU.  second rig is slightly newer i7 and GTX465

Crystal just got an upgrade today.

I have to say that these fans are really whisper quiet.  When I booted up the PC, I thought I forgot to plug them in because they were so silent.  Because they are so silent, I up'ed the idle speed from 30% to 50% below 70*C and I still can just barely hear them.  I will see how temps hold after tonight.

I should be back up and running tomorrow.
I have to keep a careful eye on temps.
It seems that Australia has skipped Spring and gone straight to summer.

It's already topping 30c here

When I found out about this challenge about a week ago I was sad that I hadn't been aware for several months.  Since that moment I've left my 2600k folding 24/7, and flip the graphics card on and off as temperatures allow.  It doesn't feel like a huge contribution compared to the 40-50k ppd I'm capable of, but since I'm on my computer all day that's not realistic.  I know it all helps the cause and the team.
Also just stepped up to 680, so whenever the day arrives that we can let the true power of the 6 series be utilized I'll be a member of that crew!

Learjet, love Noctua fans, they are terrific products...and thanks for the eye-candy!

To our recently returning and new members, welcome to our Challenge!  Every ounce of Folding Power will be required to hold our ground against this assault by [H].  So there is no such thing as a small contribution.  This team's "secret sauce" has long been the large amount of collective Folders comprised of many different capabilities.  Thank-you for joining and/or returning to help the team!
