After a huge letdown I'm going back to MSI afterburner to overclock my card.

My gtx 1080 ACX 3.0 arrived a month ago.
I'm able to overclock it with 0 artifacts on MSI with a score of 3950 using MSI afterburner.

With precision X either by using the sliders or the manual X scaner overclock I only get 3850 with a lot of artifacts running at 2088 MHZ with only 74C

I had a lot of expectations with this new version :(

sorry to hear that, i am using MSI afterburner myself although i don't overclock my card.
i just like the ability to use skins... and the whole software kinda arranged in a more accessible way.
ofc every body uses what they like and it's nice to have a diversity :)

Hello orlando2542 and welcome to the Forums!

We did release an update to Precision XOC on Friday with many bug fixes so if you haven't yet tried that version I would give it a shot. The version is 6.0.4 and can be found HERE.

If you have a moment, please rate my service. We appreciate the feedback!

strange ... i always used evga Precision from steam thinking it will keep it up to date.
after checking it's 5.3.11 O.o (and saying it's up to date -_-*)
will give a 6.0.4 shot ... hope they added some nice stuff to it (to match msi software )

I have had issue using Steam to manage and install EVGA Precision X 16 and also 3DMarks benchmark tools.

Hello Joseph thanks for the reply.
I did try the update and thats the one Im talking about.

Is no biggie I will use MSI until precision is fully polished

I love EVGA as a company so much that I got a 10 year warranty for my 1080.

I will probably RMA it after 5 years when it gets old :D

i've tried using Asus' GPU Tweak II, and Precision X, but always find myself going back to Afterburner. the other programs just aren't as stable and feel a little "clunky" compared to AB.

Weird I got the exact opposite results. I like the way the osd displays in my keyboard on msi(the small font on xoc is way to big), but afterburner kept crashing the driver when I attempted to enter the stable oc scanner voltage curve. With that curve my 1080 hangs out at 2113 while gameing. The highest I could get msi was 2065.

I've got better results with Afterburner too, Precision OC 6.0.3 still have a lot of bugs.
