Windows x64 Download BOINC for Windows 64-bit (9.48 MB) BOINC version 7.2.42

Ubuntu 12.xx LTS

Note:
You will need to install the base BOINC Client first through Ubuntu Software Center, you need to
do this only once. Then the below process below and newer updates should work as shown below. Thanks
Viper97
.

Exit BOINC Manager in Adv View and click Stop

Run the below commands

sudo service boinc-client stop

wget http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dl/boinc_7.2.42_x86_64-pc-linux-gnu.sh

sudo chmod a+x  boinc_7.2.42_x86_64-pc-linux-gnu.sh

sudo sh  boinc_7.2.42_x86_64-pc-linux-gnu.sh

cd BOINC
sudo cp boinc* /usr/bin/

sudo service boinc-client start

I updated all Windows Rigs and both my Ubuntu 12.04 LTS rigs with no issues noted.
sudo service boinc-client stop
wget http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dl/boinc_7.2.42_x86_64-pc-linux-gnu.sh
sudo chmod a+x boinc_7.2.42_x86_64-pc-linux-gnu.sh
sudo sh boinc_7.2.42_x86_64-pc-linux-gnu.sh
cd BOINC
sudo cp boinc* /usr/bin/
sudo service boinc-client start

Thanks bc. I'm thinking those commands will work in later Mint versions. I'll try when time permits.

    Thanks for the post.

FYI this version fixed the corrupted <localization> value in the client_state.xml file.  The issue was preventing the file from being parsed by some third-party add-ons that display the status of tasks in web format.

Agreed... just updated mine.  One thing we do need to mention to make things easier is that the BOINC client you can download from the Ubuntu Software Center needs to be installed first.  That this update isn't a complete package (or at least the one I had didn't have the client-start portion.)

Is there anywhere I can ask Boinc to not reserve gpu resources? I have this application that for some reason will run realllly slow and only get to use about 30% of the gpu when the window is not in focus. When I click on the window and bring it into focus it gets the full use of the gpu and it goes up to 100% use. Same thing happens if I suppend pogs, but don't want to do that because of how close the race is.

    You can Suspend GPU altogether
I do this when I Fold on the GPU and Crunching on the CPU on the same rig.
Leave one core per GPU free. 85% or 90% should do it.

You know I did try that, for folding it does work out. But for some reason with this command line exe(Cuda enabled, v6.5) the window HAS to have focus or it will not get the gpu reasourses and the gpu will even down clock itself because of the low load.
