I get a few every now and then on my laptop.... Nt sure if it is a heat issue or problems with cutting back resources when the computer tries doing something else....

texinga To the discussion about pre-posturing WUs ahead of the contest, I completed a few Rosettas and ... Hi!, texinga; Did you notice that the two Rosetta tasks were not granted any credit as they had encountered "Client error"? Note: I'll try crunching 12 instances of such task to check now. By the way, I'm doing this test in a VM setup with VirtualBox 4.1.12 + Ubuntu 11.10 (kernel 3.3.2) and I'm a bit anxious of its outcome ...oh, dear! Latest update: All of my 12 tasks (~400MB RAM per/task) were completed successfully and the fastest took 2hr 47min 35sec while the rest finished a bit later (within 9 min).

So far, one of them has been completed and marked as "Success" by somebody else. http://boinc.bakerlab.org...lts.php?hostid=1538355 [Edited several minutes later] By the way, I've just set my BOINC client to "Network activity suspended" and queue 239 tasks which would be released back right after this pentathlon starts.

@Mobajobg, I have no idea what happened with those (2) WUs at Rosetta. The Rig that I completed them on is a 2600K that is OC'd to 4.0GHz and has also run stable at 4.5GHz. I usually have that Rig dedicated to WCG and occasionally Folding. No problems running it 24x7 on other work, so maybe Rosetta doesn't like it...I don't have a clue. I'll watch that link you shared and if that keeps up, then I'll just switch it back to a combo of WCG and Collatz maybe (when it's period begins).

Could be that Rosetta is picky about things.... It runs fine on my 920 oc'd to 3.8 but I get random errors with Rosetta on my stock speed laptop when it crunches other projects fine.... The laptop will be crunching wcg mostly instead of losing time towards Rosetta....

RHMash Could be that Rosetta is picky about things.... Yeah could be...I have one other Xeon 5650 Hexacore (WS Rig) that is at stock clocks because of its Server motherboard. So, I can give that one a try on Rosetta this evening. All of my Rigs with exception of one are OC'd, but within stable OPs for everything else I do with them. Really appreciate Mobajobg letting me know and providing the link too. It's a "heads-up" to everyone to check your Rigs with that particular Project to make sure it is accepting your work. I have enough ways to attend this contest that at least some of them should work!

Anyone else experiencing really long download times for each Rosetta WU? I have a really fast internet connection and I've seen the same thing across (3) different Rigs now when connecting to Rosetta and requesting that first batch of work. The first WU can take upwards of 3-5mins just to download and then about 5mins per WU thereafter. Takes a long time to fill up the pipe in the Boinc Mgr from what I'm seeing. But, I don't have any experience with Rosetta other than this particular effort and just don't know what is "normal" for that Project. One thing I am seeing across (2) of my OC'd Rigs (2600K and SR-2) is that the first couple of WU's seem to be doing battle with my Rigs and get labeled with computational errors", etc. Then after the first couple of WU, the rest that come on down seem to process OK (at least thus far). I'm not yet convinced that I will be able to do Rosetta on my OC'd Rigs unless it's just the first few WUs that don't want to get along...I don't know yet what to make of this situation. I'm not going to start down-clocking Rigs though just for Rosetta, so I'm hoping it is just a fluke and that I can actually participate with my OC'd Rigs.

One thing I have noticed running 8 threads of rosetta on my i7 960 with 6gb ram: it is using almost all of the available ram, causing one thread to occasionally pause for a bit. No other project/combination of projects has ever caused that high of ram usage for me. EDIT: Raised the "max memory usage while computer is in use" a bit and now all threads run without reaching the memory limit.

RHMash And it should be go time! rosetta is running, and gpus are warming up! I had to set one rig to WCG-HCC only, (1hr workunits and quorum=2), since it kept blue screening under rosetta. I chuckle and picture the electric company wondering what the frank is going on? look at 18 seconds on: Detroit Edison gave me a smart meter so I can go online and see my actual power useage. I'll wait until the end of the contest to check what the spike looks like!

I'm a little late to the party but I got one rig up and running. I can add a second tomorrow if I can just figure out how to secure the motherboard. It's an E-ATX MB and an E-ATX case but there are 2 mounting holes that end up in thin air because the case manufacturer decided to put cable cutouts there. I have a tap for the right screws, but there is nothing there to drill...

I see. The recent average credit is credit per day? Hour? Task? Sorry for the noob questions, I just don't see where in the BOINC manager to find how many credits per task like the folding clients do.

http://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/home.php no problem.... look for the Tasks link towards the middle of the page.... It lists all tasks working, pending and completed.... Recent average credit is calculated differently for each stats site. It is over a few days, I think.... Credits per task can be found through similar means for each project at it's project page.... And not all projects reward points similar to folding.... PrimeGrid has tasks that'll give you about 30 points and others that give +10k....

Woke up this morning and found Rosetta with no new tasks. In the log file it seems to be asking for GPU tasks for some reason but there is no option in Rosetta preferences to exclude GPUs. I have been running rosetta for a couple days now with no problems. Any thoughts? EDIT: Seems like PrimeGrid was hogging all the resources even though they should be sharing equally. When I suspended it rosetta instantly downloaded new tasks.

For Collatz, does it only count the GPU work units? I've been crunching Collatz GPU for 2 days now and only 5 of the work units have verified... rest are pending. Is it normal to take that long?
