I'm going to keep this running change-log of the BIOS updates for the x58 SLI motherboard ( 132-BL-E758-A1 and 132-BL-E758-TR). I was inspired to compile all this information when I recently had a need to see the changelog of older BIOSes for my own x58 SLI and I discovered EVGA no longer had the changelog or all the old BIOS versions in the Download Center. The following information has come from a ton of searching on the current and archived forums (as well as some help from KMoore4318, linuxrouter, HalloweenWeed). I've tried my best to find all of the BIOS versions for E758 that ever existed but chances are a few slipped through my investigation. If you find ones I've missed, please post any info you have on them and I'll update this post. I will also update this as new BIOSes are released. If I haven't provided a particular link (BIOS version or format of version) it's because I couldn't find it and again, if you have a valid link for it, please help expand the info in this thread and post it. The Discussion link goes to the original post about the BIOS's release, the download links for each are provided in all available file formats. Credit for this idea and format design goes to the similar thread BIOS Changelog for X58 3X-SLI Classified Limited Edition (E759) and it's author Davabled. I myself did all the work compiling it and putting in the formatting you see here. Hey, you really put a lot of work into that. Kudos. You deserve a BR! Also, the oldest BIOS would not have a changelog, as there were no changes made. EDIT: Congrats on your first BR! You know they're worth cash toward an EVGA purchase, right? (If you can get the EVGA site to allow your CC.) EVGA bucks

burning_kittinsHey thanks! i have not updated my bios since SZ2X i think... what is the most recent and safest one to update to? The only ones available on the download section are 82 and 83, so according to EVGA, those. I'm rocking an even older version than you are (SZ2P with an i7940) so I'm not sure I'm the best one to answer your stability question. Mine was pretty unstable for the past few months until I figured out that using the XMP memory profile was screwing it all up. Before then I had had the memory running below spec and so enabled XMP and the issues started. Just figured it out and fixed it last week thanks to posts on here. HalloweenWeedHey, you really put a lot of work into that. Kudos. You deserve a BR! Also, the oldest BIOS would not have a changelog, as there were no changes made. EDIT: Congrats on your first BR! You know they're worth cash toward an EVGA purchase, right? (If you can get the EVGA site to allow your CC.) EVGA bucks Thank you very much for the BR! I had no idea they were worth cash but that makes it all the cooler. I didn't put this together expecting to get anything out of it but I very much appreciate it! I wasn't positive if 13 was the oldest BIOS or not. If someone can confirm that I'd be grateful. Also, with the bucks in mind, I'm eyeing this up: http://www.evga.com/produ...0-%20Hardware&sw=4 My current pad is way smaller than that is and almost certainly not a nice for gaming. DavabledGlad to see you were able to get this changelog up. Nice job and well-deserved on the Blue ribbon! Thanks Davabled! Your thread inspired me to do it

burning_kittins Hey thanks! i have not updated my bios since SZ2X i think... what is the most recent and safest one to update to? Kittins 82 has been rock stable for just about everybody. Lately there has been a couple of failures W/83, one was just very recent and reported loosing cores! So unless you are about to upgr to 990x or something, I'd suggest 82. I've been running it without a hiccup for half a year now. However, I see you have OCZ mem; no guarantees that you won't have trouble W/those if you change BIOS. And don't forget, you need to set your VTT offset 100 lower with newer BIOS.

The BIOS revision comes up on the first BIOS screen, the one that says press delete to enter setup. If you time it just right, you can press pause and freeze the screen there (this works better W/PS2 kybd). It is about the third line down. It is the number just after "release" or "rel.", and begins with IX58 or E7xx where 7xx is your board part number, for instance mine used to say rel. # IX58SZ2Z and we call that SZ2Z. Dual-digit BIOSes like 73 look like this: IX58xx73, where xx is the last two digits of your board#; for example if you have E760 and BIOS 63 it would say "IX586063;" -OR- they say "IX58SZxx" where xx is the 2010 or later BIOS revision number, 43 or higher. Now mine says "IX58SZ82" and that is BIOS revision 82. Some ppl like to load AIDA64 (Everest) to read it in Windows. The BIOS chip could contain any BIOS so I wouldn't trust the sticker for BIOS revision # since it is a flash memory chip, it could contain any BIOS. Often on these forums ppls mistakenly refer to the revision as the version number, it doesn't help that Everest calls it version also. The Everest image shown below was provided by KMoore4318: Also, don't use BIOSes 43 thru 75. If you read the thread(s) you will see ppls had many problems with them. I recommend 82, that's what I am using. You need to get your BIOS set before your OC, bc flashing your BIOS can change your OC results/settings.

nice job on the bios changelog sir. burning_kittins
Hey thanks! i have not updated my bios since SZ2X i think... what is the most recent and safest one to update to?
BK, I went from SZ2Z to 83 and had a glitchy problem. The bios refused to see 2 of my 4 cores. I tried flashing to 82 no go. I called EVGA we flashed to 64 and still no go. I was set up for an advanced RMA since nothing would restore my lost two cores. Only after fiddling with it was I able to get the bios to see them and finallyended up pulling everything off the MB including the battery so it was totally bare. I left it sit overnight and reattached everything did it see all 4 cores. Not sure what happened but there is another guy who had the same two core missing issue with the E758 and upgrading to 82 so after flashing deffinitely keep an eye on what your bios reports.

Hey guys, I see this thread is about a year & a half old, but I just found out that my somewhat recently acquired 758-A1 mobo has Release Number IX58SZ14, the 2nd one ever, LOL. :D Do you guys figure I should flash it to 82, or just leave it where it is?

I'm now running on 82 and mine was nearly as old as yours once. There are a large number of changes and increase in options from the early BIOS versions to the late ones. Some people have had success with 83 and some have had issues. I think the overall thought it use 82 unless you need the increased CPU support that came with 83. I've found update using a USB flash drive is the easiest and it's method is described here: http://forums.evga.com/tm.aspx?m=15265

I already flashed it last night, but thanks for your input. :) It seems like it runs my 920 just slightly hotter under load. Not like in a way that makes it unusable, I just need to fine tune my voltages a bit better. :) And get a better fan on it. ;)

OP, thank you for posting this. I'm viewing and posting this almost a year after the last post, but that's because this thread is simply awesome. It eased my worries to learn that VT is addressed in some of the later BIOS updates since I'll be using the Android SDK and emulator on my Core i7-920 and EVGA X58 E758 board. Why upgrade when this system can keep up with mid-level PCs today? The only thing I miss is SATA 6Gb/s support for latest gen SSDs. I'm still rocking this system with a GTX 680, 12GB of RAM, SSD raid, and HDD raid. Your post was invaluable and easy to find with a Google search. Again, thanks. And Kudos!

I have been running 83 since it came out no problems Hand picked I-7 920 was running it at 4.4 but backed it down to 4.2. Edge boost pro ssd 240 gb. 12 GB of corsair XMS3 ddr3. Plays Mwf2& Mwf3 no problem.
