Updated to include official BIOS 73, which adds an option to adjust Read Latency, thereby also giving us one more setting to adjust to fix issues when the full amount of RAM isn't detected.

Updated to include Official BIOS 77 released yesterday, which adds options to adjust the clockskew for the Northbridge (IOH) and two additional options for RAM timing adjustment (tWL and tREF)
tWL = I'm assuming this is a Write Latency adjustment
tREF = Typical Refresh period
For a more indepth understanding of the RAM options, I'd recommend checking out this article from AnandTech: http://www.anandtech.com/show/3851/everything-you-always-wanted-to-know-about-sdram-memory-but-were-afraid-to-ask/

I've also removed the recomendations.  Based on what I've seen posted on the boards the past months, it no longer seems necessary to recommend different BIOSes for 32 and 45nm chips.  If anyone disagrees, let me know.

isnt s22d the best for quadcore processors.  i thought all the bio's after that were just for the 980x.  i did try out bios 74 and it was horrible in performance compaired to s22d with my 920.  if i am wrong please correct me.

From what I can gather, it seems that most of the problems the 45nm CPU users were having with newer BIOSes were related to not understanding the newer features, like the different turbo options and more extensive RAM timing options.

I have the impression that S22D would be the recommended BIOS for 45nm CPU users only because it doesn't have the extra features that are often confusing and misleading, and is therefore a little more fool-proof.

But if there is still enough of a consensus for recommending different BIOSes, I could edit those recomendations back in.

Updated to include BIOS 78 released today, which updates the Intel RAID ROM to a newer version to improve support for Solid State Drives.  Hopefully EVGA will find a way to get the latest 10.x Intel RAID ROM and other option ROMs updated soon, but in the meantime if you're running Solid State Drives in RAID, you might want to update to this BIOS.

Updated to include Official BIOS 81, which contains the Option ROM and CPU microcode updates of the previous Beta BIOS while also disabling the double-boot with VT enabled.  Be advised that VT may not work without a cold boot.  Also keep in mind that this BIOS, like the previous couple BIOSes, will have trouble reading disk partitions greater than 2 TeraBytes.

Updated to include BIOS 82.  Looks like we may finally have proper working VT support.

Updated to include the new BIOS #83 released yesterday, which appears to only include a CPU microcode update.

Trying to put this BIOS on an Alienware motherboard would be a bad idea.  At best, it would fail to install the BIOS, at worst it would ruin the BIOS chip and void your warranty.

 killer01ws6,
If you click the "discussion" link next to each of the BIOSes I've listed in the first post, it will take you to the corresponding thread, the first post of which should contain installation instructions.

Here's the direct link to a general how-to for updating via a USB thumbdrive:
http://forums.evga.com/tm.aspx?high=&m=15265

And here's a direct link to EVGA's most current firmware (version 83):
http://www.evga.com/support/download/showdlinfo.aspx?id=748&type=N&acctype=BIOS&accversion=83&part_number=141-BL-E759

Good luck and enjoy your 980x!  I upgraded from a 920 to a 980 a couple years ago, and I'm still enjoying it.  This motherboard seems to have been a worthy investment for me; more than five years and lots of abuse later, it's still stable as a rock.
