So it's time for a new build

I've had a G5 Mac case laying around for years waiting to do something special to it.............. So here we go !!!!!

Parts used:
X99 GIGABYTE ULTRA G1 MB
Intel 5820K
Corsair Vengeance 32GB (4x8GB) DDR4 3000 (PC4-24000) C15 for DDR4
2 x EVGA  980 TI Classified's (evga 780 TI waterblocks)
EVGA SuperNova 1000W G3 PSU
150mm Bitspower Reservoirs
Bitpower Misc. Fittings
Swiftech DDC pump 35X
1 Black Ice Nemesis 280GTX® Dual-Core Xtreme Profile Radiator
Misc. Corsair 140 and 120 LED PWM fans
A gutted Apple G5 Mac case

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Let's start with the G5 Mac case
I had to gut all the parts out of the case
It's taken some time trying to figure out what I wanted to keep and what I didn't need for this build

Luckily there are a ton of OLD videos and forums on how to do this so I just followed the steps I found on GOOGLE................

Then I went to the The Laser Hive to purchase their FULL ATX G5 conversion kit
Their kit is pretty basic, but to the point and ready to install with just a few steps so
I didn't have to waste to much time trying to figure out mother board placement as
The Laser Hive makes it straight forward for placement........

After some cutting with my Dremel following "The Laser Hive's" instructions and template
I am now able to fit a PC ATX motherboard into a G5 mac case

After cutting out the back of the G5 mac case I then completely cut out the front of the case
where I will install a custom tempered smoked GLASS with stand offs as a front accent

Now it's off to the Powder coater to get sand blasted and it's NEW color scheme

Stay tuned
Regards, Rick

These cases are built to last and very mod-able. I've wondered why there's not more people on EVGA with these cases. I have a couple of these in progress, one using the MoutainMods tray and another that I did the CAD work for. Good luck.

I had looked at MoutainMods before i bought this conversion, but
"The Laser Hive" makes their MB tray specifically for the G5 Mac case
so there's no guess work or even measuring
The Laser Hive's MB tray uses the Original Case screw mounts for perfect placement
Also it's clear acrylic MB tray so I will light it up with LED for a cool glow.......

    thank you sir
    I struggled with many names
Before I came up with this one
I'm leaning towards a Classy MB so was going to use one of these names

    #1 Classy Mac
    #2 G5 Classy
    #3 Applefied

But I'm glad I went with "Bad Apple" ;-)

Great name and project!! There have been a few G5's mods through the years. I like how the parts are specialized, so there "should" be no fitment issues. Looks like a fun project, hope you enjoy. Looking forward to updates.

    BACK FROM THE POWDER COATERS...........

Just picked up the G5 MAC case panels from the powder coaters
The black is a super high gloss and the BLOOD RED is a bit on the semi gloss side

So there's a contrast between the two colors

here it is, all bolted together.................

"THE LASER HIVE"  Acrylic Motherboard tray and Back Plate Installed

Now to contact my buddy who works at Henderson Glass
to make  some custom drilled glass panels for the Front and side
I also bought a roll of Blood Red Window tint that I may or May Not

    use on the Tempered Glass............

    Stay Tuned,

Merry Christmas, happy New Year to all

    Best Regards, Rick

    Thanks Guys
I really appreciate your support !!!!

    **UPDATE**

I have decided to stay with X99 platform....................

    I went with the GIGABYTE ULTRA X99 G1 for it's aesthetics & LED's Everywhere !!!!
Maybe someday EVGA will offer these aesthetics.......Hint, Hint ;-)
The MB fitment is perfect using "The Laser Hive" MB tray and brackets

I have also started working on the Front panel
As you can see I have cut a template of Black Mesh (temporally, Zipped tied in place) that will work as a support for the 280mm RAD and fans
The glass will go on "Stand-off's" in front of the mesh with the graphics installed and lit as shown in previous pictures
Still much trimming and filing to do but you get the gist !!!!

    New EVGA 1000W G3 on the way.................;-0
