A direct purchase from the US would be tragic; The shipping costs are ridiculous, I'd much rather EVGA set up an Australian store, or at least European, as the shipping costs are much much less than those of the US.

Pccasegear. They may not be the cheapest but their service is excellent and they seem to get the stock of new and in demand hardware.

Not really, shipping would be about $40-$55. I'd rather pay that than the local prices.

I've tried to order from FrozenCPU before..their shipping costs are insanely higher than what you listed.

Not sure what you tried ordering, but a single GPU costs about that much.

I don't think I tried to order much, but it was a few months ago so I can't recall what I tried to order.

I just ordered 2 gtx 680 ftw 4gb's pccasegear.com and it cost me 799 per card, I got it at $799 cause I pre-ordered them otherwise it would have cost me $829.

I hate getting ripped off, I got my mother board from the US and got my mate to ship it to me for about $70 extra. I saved $130.

I do not know how is in Australia but in Croatia they charge import tax than on top of that %16 VAT. I do not think you are being ripped off as much by retailer/etailer but you are definitely being ripped off by your own government.

Re:Australian Users - Where do you buy PC products? 2012/07/03 16:50:57 (permalink)
Those are some pretty good prices from FrozenCpu.
Note to those looking, there is no GPU catagory in their site.  They only carry these EVGA cards (no other GPU brands) so you need put 'eVga' in the search field to find them.

$50 bucks postage, but still over $150 cheaper than Australian e-tail/retail.

Now if there was some way we could use our EVGA bucks making the purchase, we would have a winner!

Simba123, and for those unaware, there is a Graphics Card catagory on FrozenCPU, but you do have to do a little menu digging to find it.

These days exclusively http://pccasegear.com/. I do not ever buy from CPL as they burned me over a motherboard one time, but that's another story.

Can a mod PM all the people who commented on the other thread to get them to come here?
I think a lot of people from other sites dropped in to lend their support but didn't bookmark the thread to watch it for updates.
Doing that will probably garner some additional responses.

Usually from PCCG but I get cases locally due to the $200 shipping from Vic to WA.
When I am buying big I usually get stuff from newegg and have it shipped over here by a friend.
Saved $200 on my P67 board, got my GTX480 Lightnings for about half what they cost here, good luck getting 12 core opty's for $450 a piece in Aus, half price memory etc.

EDIT: Oh wow. FrozenCPU looks great.
You can save $550 with shipping to Perth by using them instead of an Aussie eTailer!

Just bought the EVGA GTX 680 Signature 2 off Amazon! Looking forward to getting it sometime soon. I normally buy from Umart (retail store) but in cases where the savings are ridiculous, I prefer to purchase from the US :P

So is anything going to happen anytime soon? because I'm really close to pulling the trigger on a EVGA GeForce GTX 680+ 4GB w/Backplate for AU $650.00 inc shipping on ebay.

I would much rather buy direct from EVGA giving you guys the profit then some random ebay seller. I refuse to pay $830 which the stores in here in Australia are asking.

Re:Australian Users - Where do you buy PC products? 2012/07/22 16:27:51 (permalink)
I buy most of my parts from Newegg, and have a bank account in the states, and family that post stuff out to me. I always buy screens and cases locally in Australia...the former because of the warranty, and the latter because of size.
I will buy locally in aussieland when the cost is similar, Scorptec is my retailer I have been using for sometime, because I can actually go to their store. I note PC Case gear is the preferred totally online store atm though.
As far as EVGA's choices:- they can either leave things as they are........
choose an Australian outlet...........
or set up their own outlet.
There is much in the news of late concerning the overpricing to the Australian consumer products from overseas.especially in the IT area. Such is the injustice felt by the local population, that the governement has even become involved....writing some "please explain" letters to the worst offenders.
I fear if an Australian outlet is chosen, then the massive price inequities will continue.
EDIT: here is an example of what I am referring to. Under EVGA's "authorized dealers list"
under Australia, one such distributor is MMT.com.au who list a 680 classified at $977 AUD. Converting that via XE, that is equal to $1002.75 USD as at 23rd July. Even VGA's own site only quotes a 680 classified at $659.99 USD. This represents a price of 151% as against EVGA's own home page.
An even more rediculous example can be seen by looking at the price of another authorized distributor....PB Technologies Ltd. Check the price here :-   . It lists the 680 classified for $1049 + GST AUD.
Oh...and if you really feel like spending money, then buy a 690  from PB Technologies. It's listed for $2199 +GST AUD. For those around the globe, Australia's GST rate is 10%, making a 590 from PB a whopping $2418.90 AUD or $2480.26 USD.

I do find it interesting now that some of the GPUs can be bought from Amazon now. When I purchased my 670 through FrozenCPU I was unable to get it through Amazon as if gave me a "This item cannot be shipped to your country" error.
