As already someone asked, many tower Mac Pro users (Mac Pro 2009, 2010, 2012), especially who used EVGA GTX 680 mac edition, are awaiting anxiously the proper 'mac edition' of GTX 980.

In my case, I recently built second workstation (Mac Pro 2010) in lab and cannot decide to buy old-but-reliable GTX 680 mac ed. or wait more...
So, I'm working with default 5770 with a lot of patience...

If there is ANY information, let me know.
Even unofficial comments via e-mail are welcomed. (Of course, I'll not post them or rattle on them.).

I have a 970SC in mine and it is only missing the boot screen. I don't even care. The NVIDIA web drivers are great, but you pretty much need Yosemite.

Glad to hear that, and congrats to brought new VGA!
Do you use genuine MacPro 2010-2012?

Don't hope on it, it's unlikely you'll ever see another mac oriented standalone graphics card or even driver support for newer cards!
Tower type Mac Pros are already EoL and Apple is notorious for dropping not only support, but licensing rights for EoL products. You can tell it's going to be a hard road because the last card marketed for Mac was the K5000 (GTX680), even the GTX 770 wasn't released in Mac edition (despite being almost the same as a GTX680) and no GK110.

That said you can try the 343 web drivers, but they aren't certified for the 900 series (even on windows the official support started with 344)

GTX970 SC ACX
i7 2600 @ 4GHz
16GB DDR3
Samsung 830 256GB
