Just installed my new card yesterday, and read up online about the issues with overheating.  I adjusted my fan to agressive, and was in the middle of playing World of Warcraft, and BAM.. black screen... PC shut off.   Opened up my case right away, turned the PC back on and flames started shooting out of the video card lol...

Returning the card right away.  I don't think a BIOS update will fix this since I already changed fan speeds (unless I did it wrong).

Good luck everyone with your issues.  I'll be getting a different model.

I would love to give a photo however, I don't want to disassemble the card because I'm taking it back to the retailer for a refund - otherwise I would.   All I can say is, large sparks shot out of it immediately after turning my PC on, and I can only imagine there was slight destruction on the circuit board itself.  No burning smell luckily.  The first thing I checked when the PC shut off.

=/ I too had black screens multiple times - Luckily no flames that i know of anyway ! I find EVGA'S lack of input to the 1070 black screen issue disappointing saying that it was only affecting 1080 cards, I've contacted the retailer i bought my card off and asked for an exchange for an asus one...

I hear ya.  I love EVGA, I may end up going with a different manufacturer.  I use this PC for my home business and for gaming, so it needs to be stable.  Im glad I kept my 760 FTW around long enough to install it as a backup.

I'm in the same boat as you in regards to work, i work from home for the NHS in the UK - It's only a matter of time before more people show proof of 1070's having even more problems i feel. Hopefully my retailer doesn't play salty. Best of luck to you!
