Did anyone else stare at the + and eventually (About 20 secs or so), the pink dots started disappearing? Pretty amazing!

 
yeah thats neural adaption, our eyes get lazy so to speak after some time. Photo receptors and ganglion cells in our eyes stop responding to unchanging stimuli after some time, its the reason our eyes jiggle so the image is always refreshed.
 
If you concentrate long enough and keep your eyes from moving from a point in the field of vision everything starts to disappear.

If we didn't have neural adaption in your eyes and brain then we would always see the blood vesicles in our vision as they cast a shadow on the retina.
 
The green dot thing is a bit complex to explain, more to do with the brain. should read this, good info and
amazing stuff.
