I bought a powersupply from amazon warehouse since they were doing a 15% off sale and it was missing a few cords, so i returned it and up graded to a better 1200w platinum model because it was labeled as pristine-repackaged, however it was actually missing a second cpu cable! and now im trying to put together my Duel Xeon computer and im missing the second cpu cable. I was testing a few of the cables and the VGA labeled cable appears to fit the second cpu using the vga cord and the vga labeled slot (pcie) on the power supply, is it possible to use this cable as a temporary solution until i get the replacement order?

What is the Full Model Number of this Power Supply?
Are you buying this from Amazon or a re-seller on Amazon?
Is it a New Device or a Used or Returned Device?

I would NOT suggest using the PCIe VGA cable for your CPU. I would suggest to register the PSU here http://www.evga.com/support/register.asp then email EVGA at support@evga.com and request a replacement cable.

    Hello

I have them sending me a replacement unit, so until i know which one i'm keeping i wont register it just yet. I just have it all setup, but no power connection for cpu 2 which is why i was asking if it was possible to use one of the vga cords as a temp power source for a day or two, but based on your reply its a bad idea.

Looks like i wont be using my computer for a few days, dam. I was hoping for a temp solution too.

No it is NOT Safe to use EPS & PCI cords interchanged

You would have to confirm that the Pin-out was compatible -- Not that it fits in the ports

Those cables 8 pin PCIe and 8 pin EPS (CPU) are NOT interchangeable. See pics below for differences. Although most power supply manufactures will recommend you buy it from them unless EVGA is doing something different (and I doubt it) the pin outs for 12v and ground are standard so as long as you bought another 8 Pin EPS for the CPU with the same gauge wire and rated at the same amps it should work. That said it's still recommended to use the cable that actually goes with the PSU to avoid instability in power as there are some cheap @ss cables out there that are low quality.

The 8 pin PCIe has a different pin assignment so see below.

Thanks everyone for your help! I ended up just buying another one taking the cpu cord out of it and sent it back to amazon. It was what they recommended as the fastest easiest way to remedy the problem! Everything now works great!
