I am not normally the type of person to complain. I am a huge fan of EVGA, because they have taken such great care of me in the past. I find it very frustrating to have preordered from Amazon on June 31st and almost a month later still having no update on shipment. My main frustration is that other retailers are receiving regular stock shipments (newegg) weekly. When previous preorders have yet to be filled. I have contacted Amazon and all they can tell me is that the items are back ordered from EVGA and they have no ETA on shipment. Can an EVGA rep please finally address this?

I have read through that entire thread and no one has addressed this issue from EVGA

Just making the point that Jacob said that is the thread that he would make announcements about availability.  Somewhere in there he stated that they had shipped to Amazon a quantity of cards yesterday as well as on Twitter.

There have been statements to the effect that at least 2 shipments of FTW cards have gone to Amazon US.  One was last week and was either shipped, or to be shipped to them this week.  I haven't seen a single person claim their Amazon FTW order has been filled, so the question is what is Amazon doing with them.  I think Newegg benefits from proximity, so perhaps Amazon is just a low slower at getting the stock into customer hands once receiving them.  I don't see that as something EVGA can really help with, from an information perspective.

I've been following his twitter as well. That doesn't explain why newegg is getting weekly non preorder stock deliveries while people who have preordered (for a month now) are still waiting.

For one, Amazon made the mistake of taking like 3 hours of preorders.  No clue how many that might be.  Two, as I mentioned.. I suspect Newegg benefits from being extremely close to EVGA for delivery of stock.  I don't pretend to know where their warehouses are, but from a corporate perspective they are like 45 minute drive away.  There's a lot of same-day or next-day potential there.

I do think it's interesting that I ordered a FE card from Best Buy and it was shipped from Best Buy/EVGA, so I think it might have been drop shipped from EVGA to me.

Maybe NewEgg ordered qty N cards first? No one owes us that information.

If you have been following the Twitter then it has been addressed by the product manager already, so I guess I am confused.  Oh, you mean you wanted a different answer than the one everyone has been getting for the last couple of weeks.  Amazon made the choice to put them up for pre-order based on when they thought they might be able to ship them out, not EVGA.  Newegg has gotten small shipments and yes, proximity makes a difference.  They are maybe 10 minutes down the road?  Quantities are shipped to Amazon and pretty much walked over to Newegg.

Not defending it by any means, just advising that it is what it is.

I can confirm that we are manufacturing and shipping as many of the GTX 1080 FTW cards that we can to assist our customers.  Please understand that all re-sellers and distributors will be receiving stock as it becomes available.

We appreciate everyone's patience and thank you for being an EVGA customer.

Thanks you for replying Chris, I do appreciate it. But the questions has still not been answered. Why are orders that were placed a month ago being skipped to send non preorder stock to other distributors? This is obviously upsetting many people, to watch people who didn't have a preorder receive merchandise before people who ordered long before them. I put in an order on the 31 of May, and people can now buy them without a preorder from multiple different vendors.

You just don't like the answer.  Say Amazon took 1000 preorders in 3 hours.. no clue but it's likely to be a large number of some sort.  Other retailers don't take preorders.

Does Amazon then get the first 1000 cards if you're running the show?

EVGA, I may have been pressing for more information, but I do understand the situation.  I don't like it, but there's nothing I can do about the limited quantities of FTW.  There's confidential agreements and you can't divulge info on nVidia supplies, manufacturing yields, and reseller practices.
I think Amazon is in a better position since they had 2 shipment commitments from EVGA for their pre-orders.  It may not be enough to satisfy all pre-orders, but it will get done.  I'm more pissed at BHPhoto for having pre-orders for the whole fracken weekend and no follow-up pro-active communication on status.  And, BHPhoto hasn't gotten one shipment, yet.  I've been told next week's incoming shipment quantity won't cover day 2 and may not be enough for day 1 pre-orders.  So we play the wait and see game.  Also, it's not NewEgg's fault for not having pre-orders and getting small shipment due to their relationship with EVGA.

I would be pissed if EVGA(evga.com) started selling new FTW cards without fulfilling reseller back orders.

Yes, preorders should be given priority over normal stock purchases. To avoid situations like this. The whole idea of a preorder is for those who plan ahead and don't want to have to spam F5 to try and make a purchase. This is upsetting a lot of people and should be addressed by EVGA

I wish they did away with pre-orders for flagship paper launches like this. The insanity that ensues as boat loads of angry/unhappy customers wait for limited supply cards while stock sporadically shows up elsewhere with little/no information, as this launch has shown, is tremendous. Just look at the amount of posts on Nvidia Reddit, or the stock thread that was just made yesterday by Jacob. I think EVGA is moving in this direction given their decision to not make Hybrid/Classifieds open to Pre-order. Yeah, you still get unhappy customers who can't sit there spamming F5 for hours (some of us have work) and snag stock as soon as its available, but more importantly you won't have customers getting "pre-orders" in that mean next to nothing when retailers have no idea the quantity/schedule for which they will reliably receive said products.

Resellers are customers, too.  All resellers place POs for FTWs.  Some resellers chose to pre-sell FTW based on the inital PO.  Others, maybe NewEgg, chose not to pre-sell their initial PO.  Now, there's a supply issue and no one can get their quantities based on their initial PO to EVGA.  EVGA needs to weigh the factors and allocate what limited stock they have.  They chose to take care of the factory direct pre-orders first.  GOOD, I agree.  A mistake fulfillment went out to NewEgg(qty 10).  $h1t   EVGA direct pre-orders were fulfilled.  Now, they need to fulfill all their reseller POs.  Many pre-sold, some didn't.

I am bias since I pre-ordered from BHPhoto 2nd day(didn't get in on earlier pre-orders).  I don't know the backend agreements...  is BHPhoto a normal EVGA customer or special order only?  Did they submit their PO after-the-fact?  Is it on consignment?  This is none of my business and no one OWES me this information, but I would prefer "some" transparency.  I am a customer of BHPhoto first, that chose EVGA as the manufacturer second.  I don't hold it against NewEgg for getting limited quantities and selling as stock becomes available since they didn't pre-sell.  They may have made their PO before anyone else.  If so, why should they wait in line behind others.

This happens all the time.  And what's funny... I hope I'm not standing on a soap box....  back to lurking.

We'll see if EVGA has that type of language in their contracts with the resellers:   YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO PRE-SELL ANY EXISTING OR FUTURE ORDERS WITHOUT THE WRITTEN CONSENT BY EVGA.

This is a relatively small business.  They're not "sue" crazy like Apple, Bose, Monster that rigs the purchasing experience.  Talk about being held hostage...

Problem is EVGA only knows about pre-orders on their site. It's the retailers business to sell cards they get and fulfill preorders. Not really related to EVGAs ability to supply cards.

I guess i m one of the few lucky ones that got the card shipped from amazon.  The card was shipped to international on the 29th, and i should be getting it on monday when DHL is opened.  Looking back at my browser history, I pre-ordered the card on May 31st, 10:03am EST.  So i m guessing the rest of you will soon get ur card shipped depending on the time you placed ur order.

I wonder how many pre-order cancellations and cards returned within the retailer's return window have occurred? Based on statements by a significant number of forum posters, the answer is 'a lot of them'.

The lack of stock on hand has made the situation worse, with more people gaming the retailers for their own purpose.

If I was retailer, and had 100 pre-orders.. should I order 120cards, 100 cards, or 50 cards. Knowing that I will get a lot of cancellations and returns? But maybe I could sell more than that and turn a profit?

This is the FTW card?  You're the first person I've seen on a half-dozen forums I read that says one shipped from Amazon.  That's good news.

Edit:  Just noticed the international part.  Was this Amazon US?

I've been checking reddit, this forums and some others discussions too, it seems a lot of people pre-ordered from multiple websites and are just waiting to see which one ships first, when they get one of their orders shipped they cancel all the others one. Some are even pre-ordering from multiple brands in the same store but they actually just want one card. So yeah, i think all these "100 pre-orders aren't actually 100" may be true.

Not defending the delays of course, just wondering about the pre-orders situation (i haven't managed to pre-order anything yet).

I cancelled my order on Amazon

I think the screw up here was Amazon they had pre-order link up for almost 2 hours so I have a feeling they likely took in hundreds of pre-orders.   Possibly even thousands of orders??  It's hard to say when I asked an Amazon rep she couldn't tell me how many orders or my place in line.   The only thing she told me is Amazon has the item on order from EVGA, just no estimate of arrival to the fulfillment center for shipping out to customers.

With new stock selling out in minutes at Newegg and other websites.  I get the feeling so far these shipments are very small maybe 30 to 50 units for most internet retailers?
If Amazon really did take in a few hundred orders at this rate it will take weeks to fulfill all the orders unless EVGA can ramp up the shipments into the hundreds.

Same for me here too. I ordered on the 31st of May.

I was sick of waiting and had no ETA updates so I cancelled my order today after I managed to get a ROG Strix from Newegg.

I had canceled my Amazon FTW order a few days back when I picked up a Gigabyte GTX 1070 from newegg. Ended up canceling that and just today snagged a FTW on Newegg.
I feel bad for those who ordered on the 31st and are still waiting. I would prefer to buy from amazon but will be happy with newegg this time.
