So I just ordered my Z170 Classified K. I'm about to order the rest of my parts but i thought I'd run it by people here before I do, specifically in reagrds to memory choices for the Classy K. The primary purpose of the build is game development using Unreal Engine. Visual Studio performance is also a concern working with UE4's huge codebase. I've looked at the recommended memory types for the Classified K and it doesn't list any GSkill TridentZ's. Admittedly I'm picking them because they look cool but will these be compatible? Has anyone had experience with TridentZ memory on this board? Is there a better variant of TridentZ or even a better brand I should use with my ClassyK without adding too much to the price? Motherboard: EVGA Z170 Classified K ATX LGA1151 Motherboard CPU: Intel Core i7-6700K 4.0GHz CPU Cooler: NZXT Kraken X61 106.1 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler GPU: EVGA GTX680 (until 1080 is released) Memory: G.Skill TridentZ Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3200 Memory (F4-3200C16D-16GTZB) Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA P2 850W 80+ Platinum Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply Case: Enthoo Evolv ATX Glass Mid Tower Case (Already purchased) Storage: Samsung 850 SSD (Will be adding an M.2 drive soon) Having spent 2 weeks settling on a motherboard the memory is the only thing I am still unsure of. There seems to be a lot of caveats when choosing memory for Z170 boards and i'm a little lost in the numbers. Any thoughts or advice would be welcome. It's about 5 years since i last built a PC, I hope to get 5 years from this one too.

Trident Z's not being on the list does not mean they will not work, it means our lab has not had that module to test with to verify it does work. I will pass the concern onto the engineering team. However, I have used Trident Z on my X79 Dark and my Z97 with no issues at all. In general G Skill memory tends to play very well with our boards, and has for a few years now. I use G Skill on my EVGA MB's.

Thanks Dave. That's encouraging. I'm gonna go ahead and order the TridentZ's. On a side note, any idea how long deliveries take to reach Ireland? I ordered from the German EVGA storefront.

GSkill should send kits to EVGA lab, because than customers will easier to choose their kits if EVGA test them and confirm stability.

This would be great. Picking most PC parts comes down to picking your favorite company and basic compatibility but memory of all things is rather confusing. Every brand seems to have 100 different types that vary slightly and may or may not play well with certain motherboards. I thought memory would be the easiest component to choose but turned out to be the most confusing part of my build. I ordered the Trident Z's and the rest of my parts. I'll find out in a week if I goofed.

I had this one... http://gskill.com/en/product/f4-3200c14q-64gvk...and it wouldn't post using XMP. Tried different voltages, clocks nada nothing. If I did one stick at a time it would POST with the XMP settings, but two was a no-go again. Not that I need anywhere close to 64gb of ram, but the kit is impressive for the latency vs freq vs capacity. I ended up with a Corsair 32gb 3200Mhz kit 16 CAS kit which works and will get to 3333ghz and still pass Memtest. I had a Corsair 16gb 3600Mhz Dominator kit that I managed to POST and load windows at 4133Mhz, so the board seems plenty capable of speed at least with 16gb configurations. I ended up getting rid of it because the extended heatsinks wouldn't clear the double thick EK rad I'm using in the case I had at the time. The LEDs were a little annoying. Outside of benchmarking, I never really saw a difference to justify the cost once above 3200Mhz.

Memory is easiest if we leave them on 2133 MHz... Than motherboards will easy work with two different kits...Default as you first time both machine. And usually problems start when people want to OC. They think everything and always could be overclocked easy. 50% of people who have some problems with step-up will use computer without issue only if they don't touch overclocking section in BIOS and set only other settings. Than memory will work on 2133, CPU will boot on lower clock and increase frequency only if need, same as voltage, and everything will be fine. XMP is in many time problematic, even if board want to work on better settings after customer set manually. Example sometimes is problem to work XMP 3000MHz 17-17-17 2T but if customer set manual they could work on 3000 15-15-15 1T/lower and better latency... Why is that... I don't know? Or XMP don't want on 3000 but manual want on 3200 with same latency as XMP.

Microcenter now has EVGA 16GB 2 x 8GB DDR4-3200 PC4-25600 CL16 Desktop Memory Kit. I've ordered 2 for my pending computer upgrade which I'll pick up this weekend. Microcenter requires a walkin as they don't ship. oops. I see you're in Ireland, so no store nearby I guess. Let us know how your build went, please. I still need to decide on the mother board and cpu cooler for my upgrade.

All my parts are on the way now. With any luck they'll get delivered tomorrow but Amazon delayed dispatch for a couple of days so maybe Monday. I ordered the NZXT Kraken for CPU cooling but EVGA have teased some info on their own AIO modable cooler which is worth keeping an eye out for. I'll let you know how it goes, it's a while since i built my last PC so I'm super excited right now.

Please do. I need want to get SLI up and running in the next week or so and finish my new i7-6700k system build.

Why you build last computer? You go to live in mountains... without power, to hunt and fish for food? Computers will be attractive during my whole life... Only maybe I build smaller RIGs. But with same passion and attention on details. First mATX than maybe Mini ITX. I think EVGA should build one GTX1080 small as R9 Nano. Soon I expect to see more AIO systems for both CPU and GPU in some small form factor, capable to fit in small case with 240mm radiator. Asetek could build that easy and than people could order one system for small PC case capable to cool down CPU and GPU with liquid. 240mm radiator but two separate parts 120mm, one for GPU and one 120mm for CPU. Than people will build smaller and smaller RIGs.

I think you are right Vlad. The higher clock speeds the newer components run at will force smaller form factors to keep the electrical runs shorter. The use of water cooling in a PC is a little funny to me, after many years of fighting (or competing) with the big water cooled mainframe computers.

You will not wrong... EVGA Z170 Classified K is perfect motherboard for new EVGA GTX1080 series. Special GTX1080 Hybrid... And computer with Z170 Classified K, GTX1080 Hybrid and EVGA AIO CPU Cooler will look amazing. Motherboard with silver on heatsink will fit perfectly with new Pascal Hybrid and I think I see option to customer connect EVGA CPU Cooler and EVGA Hybrid Graphic cards. Tubes will be similar and they will fit perfectly as well. I can't wait to see that. Black and silver is Eternal good combination.

So I got all my parts and built my new rig yesterday. Everything worked first time and I'm super happy. The memory I bought worked with no issues and damn it looks incredible! All I'm missing now is a GTX1080, my 680 is installed in the meantime. I still cant decide on which variant, I'm leaning towards the Hybrid or FTW but I think I'll wait for more info and benchmarks before I decide. Now to start overclocking! Thanks for the advice folks.

Glad it is up and running, figured the TridentZ would work without issue.
