What kind of ghetto company is Forever 21 if they can't even afford seat licenses of Adobe Creative Cloud?

They are the 5th largest speciality retailer in the USA so no excuse for lack of software licensing.

How many people are going to take the side of Forever 21 is what I want to know... They knowingly "stole" this product... How would they like it if I went and shoplifted in their store?

Tweens, probably some hipsters who think they know IT..... Well, you can tell corporate is going to be pissed that all of this could have been avoided.

Except corporate is just as guilty. Adobe informed F21 of the issue, and corporate did nothing about it. Hence, the suit.

They are a big big company no real excuse... my guess is this someone tells the young IT guy get us the lastest ver of photoshop for nothing just be hush hush about it. Then the dirty laundry gets out or the wrong employee gets mad and boom makes it public.

i wanna know how adobe knows this info. till we know that it is hard to judge how truthful this story is. i don't accept the we just know trust us stuff. tell what you know and how it was got so it can be checked. also the company might not know. it could be some random people downloading it from work without the company's knowledge. adobe tells the company they are using pirated copies. they check there copies and see they have clean licenses. they assume the adobe warning was in error as they just checked and there copies are legal. while being unaware that some low level employee's been downloading pirated copies for their personal use

It's not just Adobe. Corel and Autodesk are also suing F21 for using pirated software: http://www.theverge.com/2015/1/29/7948241/forever-21-pirating-photoshop-adobe-corel-autodesk

its rather easy actually, a set of IP's all originating from one IP range, all download the updates for the software. Adobe notices this, or any other company. They realize its forever21 and then realize that Forever21 doesn't have a license for the software. Its really very easy to catch a company stealing software as soon as they update it.' Also it wouldn't matter if some low level employee got it for their own use, the fact is pretty simple, if the software is on their network, they are liable for it.

that really doesn't prove anything. courts have said before a ip isn't the same as a person. i assume it holds true for a company also. but in your example. what if many workers bring in their laptops. adobe happens to have a update when we connect them at work. so we download the update. we all could have legal copies. so in your example it wouldn't matter if f21 had license. i am not claiming f21 did or didn't do anything i just asking that it is proven first and this example you gave doesn't prove it

it would adobe would have information as well like computer name ect. They would then ask F21 about it, a lawsuit would only follow after an audit done by Adobe, likely digitally, but ironically the EULA for Enterprise gives Adobe the right to run an audit on your adobe software and licenses, you agreed to it when you installed it. Also Adobe Photoshop bussiness and Enterprise license would show diffrently than the more consumer based licenses. Likely F21 was using either a per seat license, or a global license for a set amount of seats. They either used more seats than they where paying for, or they didnt have a license at all and got caught. Also if you've worked in IT, you would have seen your company warn you not to pirate or use your laptop on the company network, because they are liable for any activity on their network.

doesn't change Forever 21 is responsible for any machines on their corporate network, if its not secure and policy is not enforced properly they are still at fault.

In no way was I trying to say corporate is innocent in this matter, especially since this was not the first warning they received and for it to go this far means someone with a position was ignoring it or trying to hide it. I can only assume the main branch is going to clean house in w/e office was using the software
