I've just purchased a GTX 670 FTW. I've gotten conflicting information on whether it will support GPU accerlation with the new Adobe CS6 media apps and their Mercury Graphic Engine. It's not on Adobe's supported list yet, but numerous posts suggest that a simple edit to the graphics card list will enable it to work and Adobe just added support for the GTX 680.

Nvidia and Adobe are of no help, each suggesting I ask the other. Before I open the box, can anyone tell me if it will work?

    Hey hogwallow,

Yes the GTX 670 FTW works with CS6, but not officially supported by Adobe.  It's very simple to get the card to work with mercury playback GPU support.

    Take read through this site:

I've taken a screen shot to show that it's working

If you can trade up for a 680, I'd do it. Works great with premiere.

    EVGA SR-2 with (2x) Xeon X5650 stock
    2x GTX 680 FTW SLI
    ASUS Z8NA-D12x with (2x) Xeon E5645

I've got another dilemma in that it appears while the nVidia cards work much better for video editing with Premiere because of their CUDA technology, the AMD cards work better with Photoshop, which relies on Open CL, which cards like the HD 7970 have better implemented. Any thoughts on that front?

My work is about evenly split between Photoshop and Premiere Pro.

Honestly I can't tell the difference between a Nvidia vs ATI in Photoshop.  Photoshop is not as intensive as PR/AE, I think ATI only might be better in Speedgrade, but are you grading your video clips?

Trust me Nvidia is the route to take, for how much time it saves you in video editing/cutting/effects.

Thanks for your help. I'll probably stick with my EVGA 670 FTW. It's definitely better for video editing and if it works similarly to the ATI cards in Photoshop, I'm good to go.

No worries!  You'll be happy with the 670 FTW, the only thing that will make you happier is a 680 or 690 card!  :)
