EVGA contributing to have the servers up and running is one thing, being a Video Card company and all.

And the ones "administrating" the servers are another. Let's not forget that. *No*, I am not insinuating anything with that statement other than EVGA allows certain people to administer and oversee the game. Again, it's another topic that has nothing to do with EVGA running the servers, to an extent. We all know that.

BF1 related: What I suggest (and propose) is actually letting your gaming community vote on who to allow being the administrator(s) for a certain time frame (say 6 months) and if they're doing good work, let the community vote again on that person. This will allow you (EVGA) to see if the community is content and happy with how things are going within BF1. Whoever gets the win(s) becomes admin.

What do you (EVGA) have to lose other than having your gaming community remain happy?

EVGA does administer the servers and oversee how they are ran. We have volunteer admins to assist when in-house is not able to. In-house has many tools available to monitor the servers even when we're not in the office.

Over the last few months, I have made posts asking the community their thoughts and feedback. This also happens during events when issues or concerns come up. Players will post their discomfort with something, we review it, and make a plan on how to resolve it. The biggest example is the recent rule change. Yes, an admin made a mistake and it was quickly dealt with. He was a brand new admin (literally within a week or two of the event starting). We move forward.

I do disagree with having a community vote to choose who the admins are. The current group, in my opinion, has done a fantastic job and we're hoping to improve what is already great.

Regarding BF1, EA / DICE has not provided much detail on how server rentals will be administered so we won't be looking into that until more information is available.

BF1 not looking too good for gaming communities, specially ones that need 3rd party stats. If you can only manage the servers while being on it, that will be a major pain for evga to keep it PG.

Every new game this happens. Nobody thinks its going to be much and just a new "in" thing and then its all everyone plays. I highly doubt they are doing to make it to where you cannot admin any server. The game will be over run by hacks and everyone will leave it.

I think they will add kick/ban option for rented dedicated servers, but without Rcon access, you won't see 3rd party admin tools that allow you to monitor the server from outside the game or run word filter plugins or annoy players with "were on social media" or "please donate".  EVGA won't be able to have stats to track who plays during events.

I think BF1 rented dedicated servers will work like it does on the console.
Change basic game settings (map cycle, server name etc)
Kick/ban players
add/remove admins

Correct me if I'm wrong on this ----------> It's ok for other admins to invite other people to be an admin on the servers. Is there a specific person who sets the rules on who becomes admin? Lots of people would question that method. If it's ok for an admin to invite their "friend" to be an admin, I really think the community should have a right to vote on it if you are trying to keep people staying in the EVGA servers. Just my .00000000000002. IMO, you got too many chiefs and not enough Indians on your servers.

It's not us against them Sim, it never has been. If the environment isn't created there's no reason to do anything wrong. What we are trying to do is build from this not continue to create the environment. A few of us had a great time last night playing BF1 no tension, no strife just old friends gaming like we use to do. The glue that held EGC together was never a single person at all it was like minded people playing video games and helping each other out with computer stuff. No one person should try to tear it apart whether it be an admin, staff, ex admin or someone that just visits the forums. EGC is a community that EVGA built on their hardware we as players just came together under that. It's unique to say the least. Sure other companies give away stuff on twitter and Facebook but who else tries to build a community by hosting servers and really giving away some cool stuff.... no one, no one at all. So, that question lingers...

Sooo.. I think this is my new favorite forum, as well as place to say hi (though I am quite unrecognized here ;). Can I like join your guys group? Please? I mean... idk if I can or not. But after this comment, I feel like It can be a place that really welcomes anyone into (gamers specifically -- or just EVGA hardware goers) a great community.

Anyways, Props to you sin ned. -- You really have my respect after that, even if that means nothing right now!
And yeah, have a good day!

EGC was never about one person, it was a group effort. People are commenting on it, when they weren't around when EGC was crated from EVGA*BANDITS. When EGC was created (by the community), the community didn't want one person in charge of it. We already been down that road before. Everyone wanted a round circle, where the core group had a say in stuff.

Admins can come from many sources. Friends of admins can be one of them but they do not simply just tell us "This is my friend, they're an admin now." There is a process we go through to make sure they are fit for the position.

The community may input their opinion on admins. That is why we have this forum, the inbox at egc@evga.com or anyone may contact myself directly here, my email: cburns@evga.com or on Discord ( https://discord.gg/teamevga ) but it should not be a community vote on who the admins are.

We do listen to what the community has to say and we try our best to work with those thoughts to ensure everyone is happy.

I know this... so it carries the name of the company, the company puts out the products, and the company hands out the prizes. The company should have no say? Ever since your decision was made it changed you. You know it, I know it and everyone else knows it as well. Did the servers change? Of course they did, its not the same as it was back then. Here's an example, say a guy is sponsored by lets say Nike. That guy surrounds himself by people cussing calling people homophobic names and all he does is the wrong thing. Do you think Nike is gonna keep up that sponsorship up? Lets say a new guy comes into the server he is planning on building a new computer and he says oh wow, EVGA I have been looking at their stuff lets give it a try. He shoots a guy i the server and gets called the 3 letter f word. Wow, so they let this stuff fly, maybe its just isolated... nope he gets cursed out every time he kills a guy. Well that might change his opinion of things, it might not either. Who knows? It has and still does happen only difference now is that theres a script he will see that says its not cool here. See Sim EGC or EVGA Gaming Community says a lot about the company. So lets stop picking out all the wrong and start making it right. Deal?

Sims is basing his opinion on what he thinks EGC should improve on, and what he thinks should not be brought to the EGC. There is nothing wrong with that. Voicing one's opinion is good for the community. Obviously he doesn't feel having a single voice to "rule the EGC community" is ideal for EGC, and it's not.

At no time did evga not ever have the final say in things. Any rules we came up with had to be approved by evga.

I would say things are at an impasse. The community has made up it's mind about evga gaming, and evga doesn't want to budge on forcing the servers to be PG. If veterans of EGC want things to be like old times, they will need to do it on servers outside of evga control.

If I may add to this... by allowing the EGC to voice their opinion on certain rules being added and allow voting on those rules, it not only involves the EGC community, but it gives their take on it, and makes them feel important, and it also has them to "stick around longer".

Maybe I'm just weird, but I have no issue with the current rules on evga servers. They are like most rules found on other popular battlefield servers. Since you can't block/mute players in the chat on Battlefield I don't see the problem with server enforcing rules to prevent obnoxious behavior in them either.

Not my fault if you're offended.

I might have to disagree with you. To be honest Stalinx, every admin (back in the days), myself included did not like to kick/ban anyone in the server.  We have to play rock, paper, scissors game or guess the number in the mic to decide who was going to kick or ban someone in that night.  At the end, All Admins came to the conclusion that we needed to rotate from A to Z in kicking, banning or giving warnings to players. No one felt important back then. Every admin knew who was who and what we needed to do in that night and whatever decision was made, it was a group decision. We all supported each other whether it was a bad/good decision. If someone messed up, we all did, period.  That is why you will see someone saying it felt like a brotherhood, because it was.
I have come with ideas that had been implemented, whether i was an Admin or a forum member, you don't see me bragging or feel important.
All i can say is this:  if someone would like things to be the way they were before, it starts with not just one person, but all who were involved. I am up for it to give it a try, it is up to the rest of the good old times members to step up and try.

I can't think of anyone from the old groups (TF2 group, BFBC2/BF3/BF4 group) that i didn't like playing with, but i don't think that will happen on any servers controlled by EVGA. Some of the old group likes to curse and rage. I think we would be better off just creating our own public voice server, where everyone's allowed to join and hang out, where no one has to worry about being kick or banned if they say any curse words.

Understood, it is doable if you ask me. There are many voice apps out there it would not be hard to pick/set up one for the potty mouths.  I just invented a new name for the group (F.M.T.) Foul Mouth Team chat channel

You're missing my point. If you have 10 people that think it's a good idea to have "X idea" but EVGA says no, then the answer is no.

+1   I concur, it was easy to come up with a decision when everyone voice their opinions and come to an agreement. Those who don't know i was Lancelot of the round table.
MSim, let me ask you this, feel free to answer, you don't have to though...who would you like to see/play again with? I am very intrigue. I have my list, but i want to see yours first.

It is the other way around, you are not reading correctly. I'm talking about the time BC2 came out. That's the time MSim is talking about also, this was the time where the Admins will agreed on a decision and any rules that was not written in the TOS will be executed within the TOS and with management approval. The Admins back then, that included me as well, were not abusing their powers. Some did after the launch of BF3 and before this launch I was gone as An EGC Admin. I believe this is the time you are referring to. I noticed the complaints from members posting, former Admins too about the abuse of powers from Admins, and it became a concern because it was not how that started. I agree with you when EVGA Mgmt says no, then you need to follow what they say if not you will be removed, simple as that.
IMO, you don't feel comfortable with the Admins that are patrolling the servers and you are not the only one it seems. You need to state your opinion, you got nothing to lose since you don't visit the servers anymore, but be very clear about which admins you don't trust and why. I already stated who I trust, it is time you and everyone else do the same.

Those who abuse power, are nothing but scumbags!
The challenge of power is how to use it and not abuse it. When you abuse it, it reverses on you and it hurts you.The abuse of power that seems to create the most unhappiness is when a person uses personal power to get ahead without regards to the welfare of others, people are obsessed with it. You can take a nice person and turn them into a slob, into an insane being, craving power, destroying anything that stands in their way.

You got all of that right, 100%. I have to be honest though, when someone expresses their opinions on here, it's like a wave of crows coming down and attack that one sole for voicing their opinion. Don't deny it, I know you have seen it too, if not more than once, definitely from Admins as well.

People like being able to cut lose, not have to worry about being all uptight like they do at work.

Well said MSim - 100% agreed.

I wasn't around to know "how things used to be" so I am only observing / commenting from the surface.  It's really cool that EVGA sponsors a place for us to play - but if no one is using it for whatever reason it's going to waste.  At the same time I do realize and understand that having this tied to EVGA as a corporate entity they must enact a different set of rules than say a standard clan or gaming group to keep up "appearances".  Because it's their money - they have (and use) the right to say our way or the highway...  Most times this approach is used (regardless of the setting) the outcome isn't positive - and it honestly seems to be the case here.  While not an exact fit - it really has a lot of parallels to the old "never mix business and pleasure" saying.

I am not afraid to state my opinion, my opinions are not negative nor they make you go cry in the corner, if some members or Moderators feel that way, it is on them not me.  At this point, I am trying to move forward of what the bad Admins have done in ruining the name of what the founders and semi-founders  of EGC have done,

My playername is Pitbruiser and I tend to go AFK for hours when seeding.

You would be breaking evga rules, not allowed to AFK on the servers.

Oh, I see.

I don't want to break EVGA rules or step on anyone's toes here.

My former admins and myself use to seed servers AFK for several hours at a time. However, those were not EVGA servers.

Here, we must obey EVGA rules. 👍

Seeding isn't against the rules. The servers have to fill somehow, right? If a player is in the server when empty but actively running around, etc, then this isn't against any of the rules. Is it fun, no... But it's a start to get players in the server.

They wouldn't be running around actively though if AFK...

Out of curiosity, what is the rationale for this rule?

Is it to discourage players from racking up time for prizes or rewards?
