Well I got my rig watercooled today, and wanna OC my i7-960 to atleast 3.5, hopefully around 4.0. It idles at 30c, and loads at 52c. So I will show my work progress here.
 
Just OC'd to 4Ghz, with no probs! Put the voltage at 1.32, and got a 4.08Ghz (Stable) OC. Idle is @ 41c. Load is @ 59c.
 
How is that? Is the load temp fine? I will try to reach atleast 4.2Ghz (Hopefully 4.5Ghz stable) tomorrow.
 
Also is 166x24 okay? I don't know tons about OC'ing, but just went with it, and so far, it's really stable.

What did you use to stress test the CPU? Also 3D Mark 11 is not very good for testing the CPU OC IMO. I prefer 3D Mark Vantage for that. Ratio is fine, you can use whatever you like to get what you want.

JMHO.....Use the Intel Burn Test (latest version of course) to stress test your CPU OC's......not 3Dmark....either one of them.

I concur with Jeffrey, IBT (Intel Burn Test) all the way for CPU stressing/testing.
 

If it doesn't fail then it should be fine.  5 passes is nothing to actually measure stability though, I go for 30 and then do Prime95.  But if you haven't found your max overclock, just 20 is fine until you're satisfied with your overclock.

Alright cool thanks, I'll prolly stay at 4.0 (No more than 4.2). So I will give 30 a shot, and run Prime95 again but it did great on that earlier.

 
You should be able to get higher than 4 GHz without much trouble.  No guarantees but lots of people do and it's worth a shot.  Keep the base clock at or below 200 MHz though so you don't run into headaches. 

XMP profile might switch on 2:8 divider (133 x 8 = 1064 MHz).  I never use them.  You should keep the 2:8 divider though, this way you'll be at or below 1600 MHz so your RAM won't have stability issues.  As for the CPU multiplier, it matters since 24x will give you 4.8 GHz with a 200 MHz CPU host frequency.  Good luck with that.  

2:8 is best for you, since you're going for ~4 GHz with 1600 MHz RAM.  Your next option is 2:10 which will make your RAM run at 1930 MHz, which will more than likely be unstable. 

Well I attempted for a 4.2GHz OC, it shows 4.218 in the bios. But for some reason, shows 4.199 in CPU-Z, and Core Temp. Which is still RIGHT AT 4.2GHz.
 
Anyways, I got the BSOD on Windows boot with 1.33V, so I went to 1.36V, and now VERY stable. Ran Prime95, 20 passes with IBT, and ran 3DMark11, about to run Vantage when it finishes downloading

The temp in the screen shot shows like 74c on some of the cores, but I don't believe that, because 99% of the time, it'd be like 69c, and then instantly jump to 74c, and back down to 69c. So I guess it's just acting weird. Also on 3DMark11, the load was 66c, which I think is great.

When you ran IBT did you have it set to use all your Memory? I honestly hate the UI for IBT. The UI on LinX is way better. You can get a link to the most recent version in the 4.2GHz Club thread in the X58 section. When you use it you want to click on the All button. Also to get it to show the speed at what you want you need to make it 176. It's because of a thing called clock drift.
