I have been running new projects that use vbox_64 for ATLAS Simulation v1.46.
(Download BOINC + VirtualBox)
http://atlasathome.cern.ch/team_display.php?teamid=55
If you test run them use the current version of VirtualBox 5.0.16 or .18 Now
If you only have 16GB of memory run no more then 4 (5 Max) ATLAS Tasks or you will run out of memory the BOINC Client Software will start to fail.
To run ATLAS I would recommend that you have at least 32GB of memory or run 4 or less tasks.

I noticed you have the same atlas badge I do - it is very stressful on my machine - and you just explained why! I run the vbox and it works well but the RAM is the key!!
I will keep it down to 2 tasks at a time.

So I have found that on a rig with 32GB of memory 8 (10 Max) is a good number of tasks to run, with 8 or more task you will run out of Free memory.
Available memory is at about 8500MB, this is running CPU task only no GPU Tasks are running.
Now testing to see what 11 Tasks take to run, Available memory is at about 5000MB free memory is zero.
Under 11 the Kernel and CPU usage run at 99% so I would keep it down to 8 with a max of 10 with 32GB of Memory.

This is a cool project and like Bcavnaugh said you need the virtual box download from BOINC.
I believe this project works with quantum physics. The badge I have is the square with IBL in the center.
