Here is the 10.3 WHQL vs 10.5 Beta 3d mark vantage scores, I under clocked my CPU from 4.2 to 4ghz so just look at the GPU score, as you can see the 10.5 beta gives worse performance, the 5970 was clocked the same for both driver versions.

correct me if im wrong, but won't underclocking your cpu 'bottleneck' your gpu?

i underclocked my i7 920 from 4.2ghz to 4ghz, i use 4ghz for daily use and gaming and no 4ghz will not bottleneck my gpu.

I wish ATI would offer betas like this.  While one is being wrapped up after code complete there should be developers already working on the next which could be released as a beta for those willing to try them with a big long disclaimer attached to it.

If this leaked 10.5 gets anywhere near the performance of the 10.3 release then that's a good thing since they have lots of time to improve it.

i got atleast a six to ten fps increase in bfbc 2, i will post a 10.3 vs 10.5 just cause bench and heaven dx 11 bench after work.

still getting unwanted grey/black lines flying up and down my screen on 10.3b/10.5 drivers =/

anyone with 5870 crossfire setups not getting these lines with the 10.3 app profiles? any driver i use that includes them drives me nuts with the lines ><

BUT besides the lines 10.5 give me a nice 10-15ish fps increase on bc2...altho i think AA is 100% broken with them (for me anyway)

Do you have a pic of these lines by chance?

The only issue's I have with the WHQL 10.3's is the darn mouse pointer gets all blurry after running BFBC2 a few times without a reboot. Oh and in BFBC2 I see "Tron" like lines in the map as I am selecting the type of weapons I want and the sky blinks or flashes during play. So I have to reboot to get rid of it.... And finally.... DX11 loads sloooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow... If I force dx9 I am one of the first in game... DX11 one of the last...

That is horrible!!!

The last time I saw anything like that... It ended up being my VGA cable... Something about the shield or grounding not working internally correctly.

May I ask if you have tried a different cable(s)?

Also.... Have you tried a different monitor?

Exactly the same with my 2 5770's.  I tried all the latest drivers but to no avail  These 10.5 were the worst for me, flickering still there and constant crashing where a hard reboot was needed.

Thing is the game is pretty intense and once you get caught up in it i dont notice the flickering, still like it fixed though!!!

If its not sorted on the next driver im gonna think about getting a 5870 and running a single gpu til they sort the xfire issues out.

just use 1 5870 in bf then
dont really need dual 5870
