Changes made to the cc_config.xml after you update to BOINC 7.4.36 <cc_config> <options> <report_results_immediately>1</report_results_immediately> <coproc> <type>miner_asic</type> <count>#</count> <non_gpu/> </coproc> </options> </cc_config> One nice thing I found was that when you Suspend BOINC before 7.4.36 and this setting change <non_gpu/> it would reset and start the task over. But with 7.4.36 and this setting <non_gpu/> in the cc_config.xml the task continues from where it left off at. One thing I have not yet test is a Suspend and power off or computer restart. One Test I want to do is when the R-Box locks up I want to Suspend BOINC and Power of the R-Box and then Power back on and see if the task continues or resets and start over.

bcavnaugh Funny that a (Kingwin LZ-850) 850 Watt PSU can power 3 R-Boxes with no problems at 350 yet my XP rig with the cheep COOLMAX CUL-950B can only run at 320, it dies above 320. I put one of my AX1200 on my XP Rig at set the OC to 350 and running like a charm. Still in Test as I could not believe that a new PSU was the issue and not may the R-Box or even Windows XP. Coolmax CUL-950B. I DO NOT RECOMEND THIS PSU FOR ANY USE.
Kingwin LZ-850 are no longer made. Now I somewhat know why users are having issue with other hardware like Graphics Cards not working with some Power Supplies
Sounds like the 6 pin just doesn't have the power, have you tried any of these: I use em all them time on older PSUs with no 6 pin, I'm even running my 650ti off of one that is split from a mini atx power source (one four pin source split to two and then hooked to this cable)

Ya, I wouldn't power anything major with em, but ~150 watts for a small gpu or an rbox should be good.

I gave that a try as well and still killed the PSU Even one from the Main and one from the Extra Port on the front next to the PCIe ones. I will keep the AX1200 running for now.

Me too, but have to test them anyway Maybe that the Coolmax CUL-950B is bad but then I got it for free. I am glad though that I never tried to Build a Computer with this Power Supply. Best to stay away form Coolmax products at least I am.

I try to stick to Antec and Thermaltake. I don't want to jinx myself.... but I haven't had an Antec PSU die on me yet and some are pushing 10 years old.

For me I use only EVGA for Power Supplies now. I still have some Corsair AX and AXi PSU but stopped buying the AXi models because their software Corsair Link, lets say not stable.

Next time I am actually doing a build and have the time to order one I probably will give EVGA a try, they just aren't sold locally for me.

Damn they smear that thermal paste everywhere And are those resistors next to the fan power taking heat damage or is that the flash/shadow?

That's hard to say... it looks like normal resistor damage... they do change color when dissipating heat. However, it's also a concern. Mine don't exhibit that problem.

Yes, that's exactly what I was talking about. Is that just a shadow from when you took the photo or is that possibly heat damage? It could just be nothing, but it is a smaller resister and does look off-colored compared to others in close proximity. And it is the first thing power hits from the 6 pin connector too which could be problematic.

The close up shows that there is an off color run under the resistors. This could be contributing to the shadow/shading problem.

Just an FYI.. I'v been renting miners online on Mining Rig Rentals and have seen 2 antminer c1's fail under my watch. After communicating with the owners, one of them had a faulty radiator that stopped cooling then quite literally exploded after overheating, to which the c1 never recovered, shortly after replacing the cooling system and the c1 coming up for a few hours the c1 crashed again and then failed to boot. The other one had a defect in the cooling block inside the c1 and ruptured catastrophically. Also, the value of the bitcoin has just dropped below 200 for the first time in over 5 years.. good news/bad news.. as with all investments a ridiculously low price means there will soon be a surge fluctuating the markets but bleh.. it's almost not profitable in the meantime.. this is still blowback and doubt cast by the paycoin debacle.

I'm dead... my experiment died... *SIGH*, I'm ordering some new parts. Need to move power supplies around, etc. Take down this rigs power supply drop in a smaller one, Get another smaller one and order another R-Box since my experiment literally killed that last one off. It was fun though!

Nyah... it was actually pretty fun. Years ago in my early tech days I was known for things, like making things work better. Sometimes with the new stuff and an old brain stuff happens. I did have a blast and it's only money. Ordered a new r-box and another fan, since I only have 3 of them. Now I need to order a power supply. Meanwhile, I'm rigging up a long usb cord.

Some days it pays to wait. Opened my Newegg flyer this morning and low and behold an EVGA 1300 Nova power supply on sale for $179.00 with a $30.00 rebate. Hit the button on that bad dog! Should be up and running in 4 days tops.
