If true, that it will only have 16 PCIe lanes, it's a lost cause to me. I just read this

Suspiciously I haven't been able to find anything to the contrary.

Suspiciously I haven't been able to find anything to the contrary.
While Bristol Ridge (Excavator), Summit Ridge (Zen) and Raven Ridge (Zen APU) all share the AM4 socket, I'm sure there are different chipsets incoming and therefore we can't just assume the one we've found is all there is to look forwards to.

Bristol Ridge isn't an Excavator-based FX CPU w/o IGP, it is a Carrizo APU for desktops, which means it has a 16-lane PCIe controller and dual-channel DDR4.  Same can be said for the Zen APU, Raven Ridge, and it will have a different chipset associated with it.  But Summit Ridge, while sharing the same socket, may have another chipset and configuration.  May.

But I can understand the concern, the 990FX chipset from AM3+ had a total of 38-lanes of PCIe 2.0, and if AM4 is supposed to consolidate FM3+ and AM3+, we'd expect AM4 to have more capability than just competing with LGA115x.

For Intel processors, 0.122 x TDP = Continuous Amps at 12v [source].

If AMD launch amazing CPU maybe we could expect lower price of Skylake-EX.
I hope Intel know what they do... I would feel bad if AMD beat X99.
Double Performance of FX8350 is i7-5930K.

Imagine if AMD beat X99 platform except i7-5960X with 150-250$ motherboards and 250$ worth CPU.
We could expect and some high end AMD motherboards if Processor is good. Something ass Crosshair 6 Extreme...
This was most sophisticated AMD motherboard... ASUS Crosshair 4 Extreme

Board is launched 2010, after 6 years people still could install FX8350 inside, maybe even FX9570.
FX8350 work nice.
Gaming is much cheaper with AMD, but performance are far below Intel/NVIDIA.
OK someone could use 5-6 old boards, old AMD CPU, R9-290X 8GB CF and still could play new games.
But if you compare with Skylake or Haswell-EX than difference is visible.

If AMD launch something really good, price of i5-6600K and i7-6700K could drop for 50-70$ same as Intel based motherboards.
I believe that AMD could beat i5-6600K with premium model, but more than that...We will see.

Again if true Summit Ridge/AM4 will have no southbridge which means PCIe lane will reside on die as will IMC etc. It would be a stretch to compare FM3+ & AM3+ for that reason if true. All conjecture at this point but leaks indicate/"Confirmed" USB 3.1, M.2 SATA and NVMe support all requiring PCIe lanes which suggest Kit Guru is wrong but stranger things have happened with AMD. Look no further than how long it took them to adopt, "Natively"  DDR3 and USB 3.0 me thinks limitations will continue to be AMDs modus operandi just what those limitations will be remains to be seen.
