It looks like it is desperation. They only picked specific titles and ones that AMD usually edges out NVIDIA. The issue is that they claim RX 480 is better than GTX 1060, but 1060 beats the 480 in most titles.

I want Matrox to come back I love their Parhelia and 3dfx I miss them too, 3dfx Voodoo5 6000 that were wonderful times! xD
Ah well I guess I am not alone here, that I just miss the old days, you had more choice ya know?

I like both AMD & NVIDIA, heck it's all we got these days, it's a shame Intel's Larrabee never got anywhere, remember that?
But as this topic goes NVIDIA does exactly the same, lol:
    http://hexus.net/tech/news/graphics/94127-leaked-nvidia-geforce-gtx-1060-presentation-slides-published/

It may be faster than a RX 480, but it lacks multi GPU support, a RX 480 is cheaper has more VRAM, has better DX12 &  Vulkan API Support:
    http://wccftech.com/battlefield-1-directx-12-benchmarks-amd-nvidia/

The RX 480 is opted more for the future, then again both companies do the same type of Propaganda nonsense, it's not needed AMD & NVIDIA are both in the wrong for this, Frauded Marketing gets not one company anywhere. I mean it's fine a company is trying to sell it's product it'\s just the way they do it without posting factual info , just fake info just trying to make a not so good performing design look better, it's how I read this marketing propaganda lol <<< Yes Double Rolleyes for that.

Both companies like throwing mud at each other, I don't care to be honest I know what I am buying, AMD's offerings have a better price/performance value when it comes to the mid end sector but High end they have nothing so NVIDIA can price their products as high as possible, so to be honest I prefer a fair competition from both sides, it's healthier to have a market with equal competition in price classes than one uber expensive one because the other offers something entirely different for much less, but ergh ya know what I mean I Don't hump brands like some do it is obviously their choice, just never mine.

I just buy for the best price performance I can get for my budget these days because I don't have the money to pay 600+ Euro for a GPU, I just got better things to do.
2x Sapphire RX 480 8GB would be my choice it's just under 480 euro's for me, but to replace my GTX 480's I'd go for a pair of GTX 980 4GB's when they get cheaper I think, it's a major shame the GTX 1060 has no SLI support, it kind of feels that NVIDIA is letting down a major lot of gamers that wanted a mid range SLI  capable GPU, sadly that didn't happen.

But hey if you can afford something faster I won't stop you, I am fine with what ever others choose, after all making a choice is more of a personal matter

Re: AMD Wants You to Choose Radeon RX 470 Over the GTX 1050 Ti, For Now 2016/10/23 20:41:30 (permalink)
Also, if you look at the RX 460 slide, it is not compared with the GTX 1050 at all in the gaming comparison graphs. Instead they put it up against the GTX 950 and GTX 750TI. They also made the mistake of completely disregarding the GTX 1050 in the battlefield 1 comparison, instead having GTX 1060 6GB, GTX 1050TI, GTX 750TI up against the RX 400 line. Now comparing RX 480 with GTX 1060 is a little off in performance since RX 480 is meant to compete with GTX 970 performance and 1060 with GTX 980 performance, although they are in the same price point. As for GTX 1050, I can understand the comparison with 460 and 470 as those are the same price points and similar performance targets.

Eventho the RX 480 does better than the GTX 160 when it comes to DX12 & AMD Vulkan API lel, as my link proves very well with Battlefield 1 :P
    http://wccftech.com/battlefield-1-directx-12-benchmarks-amd-nvidia/

NV is better with DX11 & OpenGL 4.5 AMD Takes the lead with DX12 & Vulkan API, not too surprised thanks to the GCN Architechture they have in advance also Vulkan is built up from AMD Mantle API so  that's a nobrainer for that part likewise.

Vulkan API & DX12 is the future of gaming, NV needs to get their gear together to compete better with the RX 480 RX 480 can do2,3 and 4 Way CFX, NV's GTX 1060 has no Multi GPU support, which is a major loss and a bad trade off.

And maybe Multi GPU may disappear since NV dropped the ball on 3-Way, 4-Way and Quad SLI support for their upper tier cards, not a smart move imo, as many of you high end users here would see that as a loss over a gain.

Oh well we will have to see how things turn out when DX12 and Vulkan API are used more in games thereby replacing OpenGL & DX11, all I do know is thatAMD does better with the later API's over NV's more expensive offerings.

Not to worried about it, DX12 isn't a thing yet, and if DX9/DX10/DX11 early support showed us when the feature is actually being used the launch cards couldn't really handle it anyway.

Look at how Radeon 9700/9800 did with FarCry, Half Life 2, and Fear

How did the 8800GTX do with Crysis

And how did the GTX 480/HD5870 handle Crysis II

It comes down to right now 99% of the games are DX9/11 based games and that is where the performance matters most.
