Hello My computer was running very since yesterday. I explain what happened and hope someone can help me! Please note that my config is in my signature below. I shut down my computer yesterday to clean it before I had waited for everything cool down. So in the meantime, I changed my fan screws for vibration compensators, and I had to remove my HS for 2 fans, I did change the screw on those two ones at the end. As I had to remove my HS and the fans, I took a chance to blow them outside the case to remove the dust. I changed the thermal paste as I do regularly, put the HS back. And then, try to boot my system.... and nothing except several Q-code errors... for some reason... So I remove the GPUs, all the unnecessary HDD and kept only my 2 SSD in Raid 1. I was able to boot, fine... So I put back the GPU (690) and was able to boot. I put back my second GPU (550Ti), was not able to boot (I used the same slots)... them I remove my second GPU (550Ti) and was not able to boot because of a A2 error... As the A2 error is link to the HDD or SSD, I have check the cables, use new one, check the power supply, etc... Nothing, still that f... A2 error. I have decided to reset the BIOS.... No more chance with 07 version (I have try all the possible parameters in the BIOS) (I was previously UEFI and Raid), still A2 error. Then, I decide to update to BIOS version 08. Same issue as for the 07. still A2 error... I decided to try with a brand new HDD and a new cable.... still the same (I have tried all the possibilities in the BIOS with Legacy/UEFI, ACHI/RAID, etc..) Nothing works. I have tried several times even removing the battery on the motherboard.... nothing works... In the BIOS, only no HDD/SDD and even the optical drive is not detected.... I have got "empty" for all SATA slot. When I plug a GPU, it is detected... and I am able to reach the BIOS through it... I have no other errors, memory check is OK and the BIOS detects the CPU (I did not change its stock parameters) I also though about the PSU, but with only the motherboard a HDD plugged... I think it is okay... Simply, I do no know what to do, I am starting to think that my two month old MB has failed... Basically I am booting and arebooting on BIOS only. I have also remove the LAN connection, all USB equipment, except Mouse and keyboard... I will dismantle everything again after work, but I am not confident, I think am stuck... Any idea?

That A2 code is a checksum error for IDE detect or in other words the system halts there waiting for the user to continue which is normal and happens after a CMOS reset. "In the BIOS, only no HDD/SDD and even the optical drive is not detected.... I have got "empty" for all SATA slot. When I plug a GPU, it is detected... and I am able to reach the BIOS through it... I have no other errors, memory check is OK and the BIOS detects the CPU (I did not change its stock parameters)" Does this mean that the HDD and or SSDs are detected only when you have a graphics card installed? Did you test the drives in all available SATA ports? Have you also tested a different SATA power cable and or port on the power supply?

Hello Jose I have tried to boot with a GPU installed. It worked twice and I plugged the second GPU and was unable to boot. Then I remove the second GPU... and was still unable to boot... So I reset the BIOS and left 1 GPU, unable to boot. So I remove the GPU, was unable to boot, so I reset the BIOS again to use the iGPU... and still unable to boot... I can display the BIOS using one or the other GPUs on of the screens... I have tested the drives one by one as well as the cables, I have used different power cables , use new spare SATA cables, nothing at all. I can hear the optical drive running (I have left a DVD inside) and I can hear the HDDs running. I have tried to swap the SATA slots as well. Nothing better... I could only once see the optical drive... and after nothing. it is a bit improbable to have 5 SATA and HDDs/SSCs/DVDs power/SATA cables issues at the same time... Yesterday evening, I honestly started to become crazy.... I will try to recheck everything this evening, I will remove everything and plug everything again... it is just unbelievable... I have broken a pin of the USB 3.0 header and one is bended. I do not use it so I do not care of it. I have checked that the pins does not touch another one, which is the case, and the computer was running fine (it was broken weeks before the issue). For this reason, I am sure that EVGA won't replace my MB if it has failed... It was my second EVGA purchase, but it will be the last if the MB has failed...

It does sound like an issue with the SATA controller. If you know that everything is set to default in BIOS then the system should detect a HDD, SSD or an optical drive. As for the broken and bent pins on the USB 3.0 header, we can still take the board in for warranty but you will most likely have to pay a fee since our warranty does not cover any physical damages.

I will have a go this evening with a new HHD, new SATA cable, no raid and only an optical drive without any GPU installed. Use the basic setting after resetting the BIOS (try legacy/UEFI option to give it a chance), but if it does not work, it means that the SATA controller has failed... I will give you an update this evening. I will be happy to send it back to EVGA even if there is a fee (depending on the amount lol) for the USB 3.0 header (which is not well placed by the way).

Definitely an issue, I have plug 3 different HHD alone without the optical and try several SATA slots for each of them... no success, I am turning around default settings, A2 error, shut down, back to bios, change settings (UEFI/legacy, etc.), reboot, A2 error, back to BIOS, change settings, shut down, reboot, etc.. use 3 different cables and also change power cable. I have also tried with the BD reader alone and a linux Live CD, same stuff, turning around....

Just a curiosity, but it was working okay prior to cleaning your computer of dust and changing the fan screws?

I have one more suggestion too. Try hitting F1 and see if the system continues to POST to an actual display or another code.

There currently are some issues that are being worked on in the backend that is causing some features to be down. I would check back a little later in the day once our programmers have hopefully got it taken care of. You could also call us and we can submit the RMA on our end too. The form will still ask for the ticket number but have it filled on page render, that part is normal. **UPDATE** Our system does show that your board is in process for RMA so it did go through.

I typically always recommend an anti-static strap when cleaning or doing anything with the motherboard. Not to say that was the cause but always good to be safe when the equipment isn't cheap. You have checked all cables are properly seated? You could also try a cmos clear for good measure with the button on the back.

I removed the fans and blow them outside my house without touching the motherboard... It is not the first time I build a computer and I always shut down the computer, unplugged it from the power source, do not wear stuff that gives you static-electricity (such as plastic shoes, acrylic pullover, etc...), I even remove my watch and my wedding ring... Everything has been checked three times. I was able to boot twice but not with the full system in place (as it was impossible to boot with the full system and I wanted to know what was going on). The only thing it has detected once is the BD player, but only once and obviously displayed "no boot disk detected". After, this last reboot, A2 error whatever I tried. It looks like something went wrong somewhere. Not even one SATA disk has been detected by the motherboard using different SATA cables each time. I have also tried cmos clear several times, update the bios, use default settings, change UEFI/Legacy, etc... While waiting for its replacement, I will buy an anti-static strap and follow your advice, even if I am sure of being static-electricity free.

I think anti-static strap is a definite must especially with this new system hardware and the cost of it, better to be $7 out of pocket than be goofy on carpet with socks on installing stuff in your new build or cleaning lol. I got the rosewill one very good AS wrist wrap
