Hey all.  I have an X58 MoBo and I need to get my BIOS version.

The problem is that the POST screen flashes by so fast, I cannot use pause/break fast enough to catch it.  Is there a way to find out my BIOS version?  I'm doing some checking to ensure I'm up to speed.  Thanks!

Not a stupid question. You can find your version from within Windows.

Press Windows Key + R, type cmd into the Run dialog, and press Enter. Run the following command:

    wmic bios get smbiosbiosversion

Your bios version will then be didplayed.

Keep tapping the 'delete' key to enter the BIOS when booting. The version should be listed there.

Thanks,  I didn't know about the wmic command.

I've been in the bios and get a version, but in both cases (the wmic command, and going into the bios itself) I cannot figure out how to compare it to the downloadable bios here on evga.  The download only says 83.

How can I compare to ensure I have the latest version or need to download update?  Thanks.

I do believe the free program CPU-Z displays motherboard make and bios ver.
One other way is to take a picture of it when it is displayed. You have to time it just right.

+1, CPU-Z will display the BIOS version in the motherboard tab.

Ok, CPU-z was easiest to get the version.  But that still doesn't let me compare to the version posted on evga.com to see if I'm running the latest version or not.

The only thing posted on evga.com is 83 for the latest version.

But CPU-z says 6.00 PG.  What am I missing here?  *confused*

Sorry for the confusion, and thanks for the help.

This is very simple... compare the dates. The dates in CPU-Z versus the date 83 was released.
