When Build 14376 rolled out just days ago, a mysterious file called “UpgradeSubscription.exe” seemingly pointed to the possibility that Microsoft could introduce a paid subscription scheme for Windows 10. Link

Hahahahaha. That is hilarious. They make everybody upgrade to windows to, with everybody all gung ho for the upgrade.... Now that everyone (if not, most of everyone) has upgraded, now they put a subscription fee to continue to use Windows 10. That is to funny. Here comes the class action law suit. Sign me up!

Standard boilerplate in a EULA that if you agree to the license that you can not initiate a class action suit. Mileage may vary depending upon your global geographic location and relevant local laws though that supersede anything Microsoft's lawyers can dream up.

Office 365 is a subscription based business/home software and it has been out for quite some time. A subscription based operating system might work for some people.

If a million people got together and stormed the Microsoft building (quite impossible to get that big of a crowd, but what if...), not even the gov. could not stop them.

So how would that address the issue?

It might have Microsoft "reconsider" their options. Doubtful, but you never know. You can't possibly think that a single company can have that much control over that many people., "if" they were at their front door. But that's all hypothetically speaking... So I honestly don't know. But what I do know is that you can count me to be in that crowd if it is to happen.

A subscription would be an alternate form of O/S delivery. With MS Office you can buy stand alone copies OR you can buy a subscription. I predict that Microsoft will do the same with O/S subscriptions.

I'm completely under the assumption that this subscription was to get people to subscribe to continue to use Windows 10. Is this not the case, and it's for office? If so, then the article is very misleading. When Microsoft announced a "free upgrade" they never mentioned anything about the possibility of a subscription.

It's difficult to say what Microsoft will do but whatever they decide to do they can't anger their customers.

If I was Microsoft and I had people threatening a location I work at, if anything I'd implement it just out of spite. Protests are a joke.
