980ti SC fans running full-tilt all the time.

Good morning. I just woke up and heard the fans revving. I checked PrecX and it shows them running at 96%, and nothing works to slow them. I took the card out, cleaned it and replaced, and after rebooting it still is running at full-blast. Never had an issue before this. Running super-cool, that's for sure. I deleted and re-installed PrecX in case that was the problem, but it didn't change anything. 

i7-6700k @4.0ghz/980ti SC+/16gb 2133 DDR4 ram/AsRock Extreme 4 z170 Mobo/EVGA Supernova 850 PSU/256gb SSD Main/WD 2tb Velociraptor/1 pair B&W 601se + Affordable Accuracy Monitors/SVS PB-2000 sub/Denon AVR S710w 7.2ch receiver.

    Sounds like the fan controller died.

    Do you have another PC to stick the card into it to see if the same thing happens?

    No. Gave the old away to someone who really needed one.

    I seem to have fixed the issue, though I don't know how. Switched back to Auto from Manual fan control and it slowed down to normal.
