Hi all,

Just got my 980ti hybrid in and I was testing to see how the temp is . Running maxed witcher 3 1080p, I'm hitting about low 70c. That seems a little high to me based on the graph on the product page, which shows a general max of around 50c. Do I have a defective cooling system or can anyone confirm this is about what the card will run at. Thanks all.

Mid 80's for your ambient home temp(inside of your house)?

I was just playing BF3 on one monitor 2560x1440 and had another 22" monitor with some umm, live videos playing and I was at 32c.

Pretty sure I got a bum card. Can anyone confirm a similar temp before I go without a gpu for however long the RMA takes?

Check to make sure the pump is working properly which I'm assuming it is if your card isn't overheating. Also make sure the lines aren't kinked.

Check your ASIC quality, possibly very low means higher volts could result in higher temps.

However, if you're ambient room temp is 80's then it could quite possibly not be the card.

With a modest OC, and after a few hours, I'm hitting 60 on one card and 55 on the other. My ambient temps are in the 70s and the tower is currently under a desk (I'm moving it first chance I get), so it's hard to say, but 80s are pretty high ambient temps. I'm guessing by "maxed" you mean the game, not OC on the card...?

The max temps I've seen is 55 degrees and that was on one game..titanfall of all freakin games.  Most everything else runs at 50 degrees and witcher 3 runs at 52 degrees.  70 is definitely off...could just be thermal paste wasn't good or could be other things but I'd definitely be rmaing it, if it was the whole card you bought and not the reference plus the hybdrid unit seperate.

Lines aren't kinked and both the fans are working. can anyone tell me how to find the asic? I'll post it if I can get it. and the card has no OC yet, just standard factory clock/volt. I did put a more aggressive fan curve, but that should cool, not heat it. Just tried Witcher again, now getting up to 74c.

Yeah bro, I'd reapply TIM and if that doesn't fix it, RMA. The Classy is that hot on air...

I have, or have had two TI hybrids, Witcher 3 is the only game to make those cards as hot as I've seen them ever be. SLI 1440P, almost everything maxed out, only ONCE did I see one of my GPU's hit 70C, but it did happen, I'm attributing that to my ambient temperature mostly as I'm in Hawaii with similar heats if not hotter. I normally game with an air conditioner on anyway, but I was too deep into the game when I noticed that high spike in heat before I put the AC back on. Otherwise, my average temperature on both of my GPU's normally sit around 60C-65C in Witcher 3, one of them was always higher by 3-5 points and I'm guessing because it had a super low ASIC score and was pumping out a higher voltage.

When playing GTAV, 1440p almost everything maxed out as well, I'll only see 55C-60C.
Back when I was playing on 1080p with the 980 including the 980ti, both hybrids, GTAV, Far Cry 4, highest heat I'd see is anywhere from 43C-47C, but settings typically weren't maxed, just Nvidia's Experience.

MPirc, without any overclock, 74 degrees is pretty warm for this card, I'd agree. Have you tried any other games other than Witcher 3? I'm with JerkMan, try re-applying TIM prior to requesting an RMA and see how that works.

I also game at 1080p and at 120hz which taxes the GPU even more. Recently played GTA V, F1 2015, Project Cars, Crysis 3. Set NV Control Panel to keep card at max performance while gaming and have mine OC to 1415mhz. Even with this mild-moderate OC on all of these games my max temp has been 50 degrees. Prior to installing the backplate my max was only 47-48. Something is likely off within your card.

If he starts tampering with anything he may void his warranty. He needs to verify with EVGA before he does anything. They can always say he applied it wrong or whatever.

Could be the fanspeed. If I halve the voltage and use a low noise adaptor it causes temps to rise to 90C very quickly. You need a fan with high static pressure on such a small rad.

70 celsius is way too hot for your Hybrid Literally.

I got Two Hybrids for a while now and recently got the 980 Ti KPE.

The first time I installed the Hybrids, The Hybrids specially the Top card Never even go over 55 degrees Celsius at all with an OC of max 1380 MHz 110% power limit. At the stock 1265MHz boost that it had automatically at 100% power limit it never goes over 50 Degrees Celsius at all in games Witcher 3 and BF4.
I would say your AiO cooler probably have problems either a blocked tubing or a defective  pump.

I can assure you, I am playing Witcher 3 and BF4 with different monitors, 1080 60hz, 1440p 120hz(oc korean panel ) and Rog 144hz and a 4k at 60hz. Even with the only stable OC I can muster from them which is at 1380 @110% power limit, they never at all break the 55 degrees celsius even at 100% load on Witcher 3, to any Monitors I currently own whilst playing long haul.

I would say go and contact evga, don't try anything on the card that may void warranty.

Ah, yea I just have my doubts about this even with them saying it's covered. They can say something else was damaged which isn't covered, so I'd avoid it altogether and I have experience installing AIO's because I do it all the time aside from my normal job I build computers for customers.

    UPDATE:
New Ti Hybrid received, 66% asic on this one versus the old 56% dead one, was hoping I'd at least make the 70% bracket, but oh well, we'll see how she fares.
I also re-positioned the radiators from the old way I had them, which was one at the bottom exhausting out, and the other one from the lower front at intake.
Now, I have both of them mounted to the front of the case where two 140MM noctua fans are at intake, and with 2 120mm fans at pull on the radiators.
I also put another fan below those on the bottom at intake as well to push all that hot air up to the upper/back exhaust.
Upon a long gaming session on Witcher 3 now, highest heat I've seen is 47-50C, huge improvement from my previous setup.
We'll see how different ambient temperatures treat it with different days though.
