Picked up a 980ti FTW at a local fry's a couple weeks ago. It has recently gotten an annoying buzz sound when under load in game. It is terribly loud, used the straw hearing method to pinpoint it pretty close to the 8 pin power connections to the gpu. Not only that the fans randomly drop rpm while just sitting idle. I even set a completely flat fan profile in Precision X and they still change speeds. Anyways I am still within the 30 day return window at fry's and thinking f this and not deal with an rma and forget about this 980ti upgrade. Is this normal for these cards or would you say just unlucky? They have more in stock to exchange but I am kind of doubting this upgrade from 780 after google searching "980ti coil whine".

I have an AX750 psu currently that has never had any issues. A new corsair 850 G2 will be here tomorrow to confirm if the psu is having any affect on the gpu. It is the only thing I can think of to troubleshoot at this point.

Coil whine is fairly common. Fans dropping rpm randomly isn't normal at all.
