I suppose the key in this case might be to produce too many for them to buy out and monopolize safely. Though it'd come at the expense of the consumer, the price would be less than the game as it stands now.

Alternatively, EVGA could offer something similar to what they did with the GTX 980 Classifieds. Just make initial hybrid kit availability for those who already have cards compatible with the kits, then sell to the general public.

Maybe even void transferable warranty if the initial owner doesn't hold until the next series or something.

How about the guys selling the kits for 300 on eBay?? Also there's auctions going on for the cooler for 165.000 with 4 days left and 10 bidders.. lol... I have never seen anything scalped for over 300% over retail. 2 per customer is good though. Hopefully it will keep the scripters / campers down to a minimum.

Please start making these more of these coolers without sacrificing quality.

I personally wouldn't do the cooler for the simple fact you're paying more in total and on top of that it's clocked less.

There's only about 40 dollars and 40 MHz (1-3fps) difference between the reference SC and the hybrid. They both should clock virtually the same as well hold the same temps. They are the exact same card besides bios which is also easily changed.

The SCs were the only cards available at the time as I was an early adopter and got them a day after release.

Oh yea I know, but that $40 and then you factory in the annoyance of installing and what not, so to me it's why I waited.

Hey guys, time for a much needed updated here. Apologies for not providing any info earlier, just did not have a solid date to provide + we have been making some changes on the production line in order to accommodate larger volumes of the Hybrid card than was previously available.

Right now we will start having significantly more availability in Late July/Early August. That is the best timing I have right now, but will update as we get closer.

Will the stock be available for all sellers (Amazon etc..) or just for the EVGA web shop?

Well between Newegg and EVGA I don't really care who I get it from. Even Amazon as long as it's the same price.

Any update on timeframe, is it still late July/early August? And will Australian online sellers be getting them or was that time frame for Americans? I want to know if scorptec will get them, that's where I have 2 on pre-order.

I'm about to sell my Titan to my friend tomorrow so hopefully these come available ASAP, otherwise I'll likely pull the plug on the only other GPU under $1k that's water cooled,

Re: GTX 980ti Hyrbrid availability 2015/07/22 04:00:42 (permalink)
Hi,

Do we have any aproximation regarding how many orders have been placed worldwide currently, and how many of them will be served from this batch? Is it gonna be enough or some of us we will have to wait for the next batch to come? I placed my order in a German site on 30.06.2015 and currently the site does not have a delivery date, and i was wondering whether my order will be served in this batch.

Thanks in advance for your responses.

I really do not expect to have this card until late August minimum (seing how fast things are developing).

Even after the optimistic message thrown by the moderator, still non of the sites selling the card have an ETA on the arrival, and I simply don't think we have a more reliable information than distributors do.

When did you pre-order yours ?

FYI: I placed my one in the morning on 19-06-2015 apparently I'm 2nd on their pre-order list (with over 50 pre-orders) they only placed order for 20 of them.

I mean yea it would be nice to get the card ASAP, but at least they my advice(not sure if others said the same) about lowering the limit down to help everybody to get a chance to get the card, so that was a great move on their part.

I wish they allowed you to preorder it.  Only having a notify option makes it feel like I have no chance in hell of getting one(I can't check my email 24/7)

So you also ordered from Scorptec in Australia? If so, how did you get those numbers about how much is pre-ordered and how much the store has on order??

And I placed mine on 22-06-15 so Im not far behind you, hopefully I make it in that 20 orders.

Re: GTX 980ti Hyrbrid availability 2015/07/24 01:27:56 (permalink)
Hi Guys,
Matt from New Zealand here.

Right so here is my sad sad story on this subject.

So back in early June I see the EVGA 980 ti Hybrid and I think damn what a sweet card.
I think on it, read reviews, get all excited about and finally I hand over $1450 NZD on the 29th of June (yes thats how much they cost down here) to a retailer.
Their website said that they would be getting their cards on the 22nd of July. I was told you had to pre-order to get a card as they would be flying out the door and we are only getting like 40 cards in the country in the first batch.

So 22nd of July comes around and hmmm no email from my retailer. So I contact them and they say they are in the dark about it, but will find out.
They get back to me and say that no dice on the Hybrid but I can get one that has been in a gaming rig as a demo at the wholesalers for 3 weeks.
I was like sure I will have it, if there is some sort of discount. They get back to me a day later and say nah no discount and sorry the card is already gone as someone else said they would have it.

I had no idea there were MASSSSIVE production problems with these cards (only just found this thread with all its info today) or I would have said YUP I WILL HAVE THAT DEMO CARD RIGHT NOW THANK YOU!.. ahhhh..god damn it..

So the question is why the hell does EVGA basically tease us with a release back in early June and then have no bloody cards expect cards for reviewers for TWO months. So god damn lame..

All it is made of is a reference PCB and hybrid cooler kit. Not sure what the hold up is. They must not have enough coolers because there seems to be plenty reference PCB models in stock.. I'm close to just doing it right and spending 800 on a real loop. If I can't at least get one kit in two more weeks I'm giving up on the hybrid kits.

Jacob the last update was a week ago. Any news about stock being shipped to overclockers UK?. Having sold my previous gpu based on eta given by your marketing team. I have had no game
time for the past three weeks. I am starting to get a life and it scares me. Please let me know when can we expect stock to be delivered. This is late July....

Iv thought about this too, setting up a real loop. Problem is, I already have a Swiftech H240-X on the CPU I would have to replace that or expand it. And I have never done a water setup before, I would have to invest alot of time and learning to it. Kind of scary, especially when I am working 45+ hrs a week.

I don't like the look of Inoo3D hybrids. And they probably don't have international warranty like EVGA, although the thought of having a hybrid card sooner rather than later is not bad at all.

right... they are not attractive to me at all. It's risky if card not work.
But for me is not problem as for other people if I install Hybrid cooler later.
Some people here want strictly Hybrid. For me is OK and SC and if I install Hybrid cooler.

The siwftech h240x lets you expand and add another say 140 mm rad if you need it and your graph card but you'd need to get a waterblock from here or ek or swiftech has them too I think, they're around $110 I think for a decent one.  I

almost went that route and was researching it when I got an email notification from evga and got super lucky buying the hybrid here.  Just got it installed last night, the water is soooooo worth it, temps are so low and it's quiet.   Well worth the wait or however you end up doing it.

I'm at 1502 and running like a champ, on the base base reference card because that was all that was available when I bought it.  I tried a ton of combos with extra voltage, lower memory clocks but couldn't get any higher than 1502.  But it's fine and runs under 50 degrees while gaming, even after a couple hours.

Yeah I am stable at plus 435 to memory and plus 292 to the core, which then will boost me to 1502 and it sometimes drops to 1495 but I'm not complaining and happy.  It's a pretty big performance jump from the base card in 4k and 1440P, which is where I run mostly.  No voltage increase, I tried to add some voltage to my stable overclocks under 1500 and it did nothing but make me crash.

Oh yeah, with two of them that will be nice, you'll love it.  I got a buddy with two g1 gigabytes and his performance is great, I just love the low low temps and it's quiet too, only thing I can hear now is my hyper 212, which will probably go under water too sometime soon.

Asic quality is 72%.
