Some of us here know that a 780ti classified block will fit on the 980ti classifieds, EVGA does not make a waterblock for the 980ti classifieds.  I have (2) of them installed in SLI. Purchased one of the blocks from here from a forum member, the other I happened across and jumped on real quick on eBay a few weeks back and then bough my second card.

I have run across another one on eBay for anyone who is interested. (by the way, it is not me selling it on eBay). I already have 2, do not need another...good luck.

No one makes a specific 980ti classified block. The 780ti and 980ti classified boards are the same so they are interchangeable. Your only other option outside of the listed block is the EK-FC780 GTX Classy waterblock which is what I'm running. You will need EK's backplate OR longer screws if you want to use the stock backplate.

If you can get your hands on the EVGA 780 TI classified block then it works like a champ. You can see pictures of my temporary build here: http://forums.evga.com/I-have-SLId-my-Classified-K-m2473188.aspx

I have (2) of them installed. I scuffed and sanded the 780 logos off the front and painted them flat black. You don't see the underside of the block with them both pointed down, even if you did it's only the difference between the 7 and a 9...
The only fabrication I had to do was grind a small piece of the material down a bit where the block met the DVI outlet, not big deal at all.

The EK is not a full cover block and only really cools the chip though, right?

That block on Ebay didn't sell. I was going to buy it and forgot about it last night. They did relist though. I wish I could find one of the EVGA Coolant bridge things that they sold for a while so you could Do without the fittings between all the blocks.

The EK block is a "full cover" block in a sense that it cools all the important heat producing parts. It does leave some of the parts uncovered that don't require direct cooling on the end of the card.

The ek block doesn't have the excess plexi/acetal. That is the only difference. The evga block and the ek block cool the same things.

The 3 VRM modules for the vram, near the power connector, are left uncovered, but even on the newest blocks that isn't actively cooled. It's just a piece of aesthetic metal to make the people that complained about it comfortable.

Yep Scarlet's right - the only difference is the plastic.  They both cool GPU, RAM, and VRMs.  Only reason I went EK was because I got one on a sale - and they have better immediate availability.

The EK Thermosphere or VGA Supremacy are the ones that only cool the GPU chip (and I wouldn't recommend trying that).

very simple to remove the ACX cooler. Remove the 4 GPU retention screws on the back of the card around the GPU chip and then gently lift off the ACX cooler. Be careful as there will be the fan and LED cables connected between the cooler and PCB that are easily disconnected with your fingers.

No, you can not use the stock backplate without buying new screws. You need longer screws and may have to open the backplate holes a tiny bit. I found a way around this issue, but EK has stated that they won't allow anyone else to go through with my method.

M3x8 is the length you will need.

The above is for the ek block.

The contact plates, for EVGA and EK, are solid copper with nickel plating. The top (black) is Acetal or Plexi (clear)

Polishing the contact plate may not do much, as the tolerances are perfected and you would be making minor changes to the surface for the tolerances, but it also should not hurt anything.

The evga backplate can be used with the evga Waterblock, no issues at all. Only one screw won't fit.

You will need a dremel, router, or small grinder to remove a little bit of the acetal right where the dvi bracket is. Once you do that, everything will fit wonderful.

I'm not mad at ya. I just wasn't willing to pay $150 for 1 block. I would have gotten it the night before had I been paying attention and realized that the auction was ending. And I would have had it for only $100. But I am glad to see it go to someone here. And honestly I didn't need it right now anyway. It was just going to go in a box and wait for me to get a 4th card, so you'll get more use out of it.

Ill keep my eye for some more. I got my first one on here for $75, then paid $155.00 for the other on eBay. I figured since they would be hard to find I had better jump on it while I had the chance. Personally, I wasn't even going to run SLI again but thought, why not...I'm going to purchased a 34/35" curved gaming monitor at some point and might need the extra horsepower.
