I recently bought a 980 Ti hybrid off of Amazon and while it's running pretty well, It seems to be a terrible overclocker. I think without OC it maxes out at like 1341 or 1351 I think, cannot remember exactly. It's my first time over clocking a GPU, but I set the power limit to full 110%, got the memory up to 350+, and then got the core clock to +80 or +90, (usually benchmarks fine on 90, but have had it crash once in game). I've read about people getting to ~+140,150, sometimes reaching over 1500 MHz.

Am I doing something wrong? Or did I just get a (removed profanity) overclocker? Even when setting the voltage to the 1.212V Max I can get max 100mhz on the core clock or so.

Thanks

That isn't a poor over clock.  The advertised base clock is 1140 MHz.   You are running 200 MHz higher than the advertised base clock and 100 MHz higher than the advertised boost clock.  Were you expecting to accidentally own one of the best overclockers?  Silicon lottery is the saying.

Well no, but I'm really only getting +80 stabley on th overclock, when all the posts I've read people had +130-160. Also could you explain the whole +200mhz thing? I am confused how it runs without overclock at like 1341 when the boost clock is only 1228?

GPU Boost 2.0 is the answer.  Your card overclocks itself automatically within a very restricted margin.  Your card is advertised to have a boost clock of 1228 MHz.  The advertised boost clock is the minimum boost clock which EVGA guarantees all of those products will achieve.  When your card achieves higher than that, it means that your card is better -- right out of the box -- than what was guaranteed or advertised.

Would you rather your boost clock was 1228 MHz and you added +113 to achieve 1341 MHz, or would you rather your boost clock was 1261 and you added +80 to achieve 1341 MHz.  The +80 or +113 really means almost nothing you see.

Ohh okay I get it. So like 1430 isn't that bad. I had just seen people claiming they were getting like to 1500 and had hoped I would reach that. On all ultra on assassins creed syndicate I'm at an almost constant 55-65 fps and wanted to like get a bit higher, guess I'll just turn down a few settings!

Out of curiosity, what is the video card ASIC quality and what is the core temperature while playing?

+80 is good actually for a stable overclock. Their are very few cards in the wild that actually overclock to 1500 stably. Also, don't forget that on the internet those +130-160 overclock claims are usually a little exaggerated. Not that those cards aren't out there but in reality they are way fewer than you think. Some people don't even get +80-90 stable overclocks, so you got a decent card. Don't get so wrapped up in the numbers and just enjoy the card for what it was built for...... crushing noobs!!!! muhahahahhahahh  \m/
