So, the GTX 970 FTW came available yesterday in the UK, and I got mine this morning.

So far I've played several titles with it: Crysis 3, BF4, CS:GO, MW2, and MW3, it manages just fine on max settings with all of them - as expected for the majority of those games - so I'm a happy bunny. There wasn't any coil whine in the games; there was however tolerable coil whine when running the "Windows Experience Index" test.

I haven't overclocked it yet, but will eventually get around to doing that.

Good to hear. The only time you might have coil whine is when performing folding at home or something similarly GPU intensive.

Does anyone know of a good method for finding a stable overclock? I've overclocked it, tested it, and found it stable in one application, yet when I try another application it crashes. I recently switched from consoles as the "next-generation" consoles are based on weak and inferior AMD hardware.

Yeah, this may seem a bit pedantic but they damaged the box. It's not a big deal I guess.

I've had my request accepted for the back plate, also registered for the free warranty extension.

I've heard a bit of coil whine in BF4, and perhaps Titanfall, but not sure. If I run bench marking software the coil whine is a bit annoying.
