So I just read on this forum that the ACX style fans blow heat into your case, vs the blower style fans. I did not know this. I have pretty good airflow in my case though. I've got a CM HAF 922 case with 3 fans. One 200mm fan on top, one 200mm fan in front and one 120mm fan in the rear. My idle CPU temp is 93F and I don't recall what the full load is when gaming for example, something like 122F I think. At any rate, do you think the ACX fan would cause too much heat?
Also how much difference in performance would there be between the 970 FTW ACX 2.0 and the 970 Superclocked? I wanted to get the 970 FTW ACX 2 because it was pretty close to the performance of the vanilla 980 GTX. How much are we talking here? Another thing to think about is whenever I go and upgrade my card, my son gets the older one, so I currently have a EVGA GTX 670 SC and he'll get that. One weird thing is he has a CM HAF 912 but for some reason, his CPU seems to overheat. When I had that CPU and mobo and RAM with me, it was fine and I even O/Ced it to 2.8GHz. I had to reset it on his because of the overheating problem. His CPU is a Quad core Q6600. I even reapplied AS5 thermal grease on it. That helped a little but still, I can't O/C it. I'm worried that when it comes time for him to get the 970, it will overheat, then again strike that because by that time he'll have my Core i5 3570k because I'll be doing a full upgrade in 2 years. Still, he'll probably have that same case and I even added another fan in it. I believe I added a 200mm on the top to vent heat.
One more question.....how much faster will the 970 be over my 670 SC? I would think I'll see a noticeable difference.
