You don't have to put any numbers behind -smp unless you want to run less core than you have. It will use all cores with -smp

You don't want an 8105. The PPD is lower than an 8101.
It is around the ppd of a 8103.
Negative on that. On the same server the 8101's generate around 10,000 more PPD than the 8105's.

I've been chewing on one since I flagged the bigadv after testing with SMP. I thought.... Really? Isn't this like Deja Vu again?

Hafta agree with Bro John on his assessment of the 8105s. PPD of an 8105 on my dedicated 4P Folding rig (6180s @2.5GHz) is much better than any 8101. 8101s are the worst performing PPD of all the Bigadvs for me. They have the longest TPFs and overall completion time of all the 810x Bigadvs. All figures below are actual from all 100 frames processed. 8101: PPD = 375,790 8105: PPD = 605,331 8103: PPD = 619,692

I've said all along that they need to adjust 8101 to the new standard of the rest of these bigadv work units. Make more since to adjust one than try to adjust four to match 8101. Heck they seem to have trouble getting the number to match every time something new comes out. One time its way to high next time its way to low, you would think as long as they been doing this and do a pre test they know by now. I'm no number wiz but it only seem by looking at another project TPF and then matching the new project "if its TPF is about the same" as close as you can "with a point value" would be a simple and close way to get some numbers that would closely match the new project. Sometimes I think people are to smart, and then make it more complexed than it need be. They forget there is a simple/easier way to do things

It's not. There is no computer where 8105 PPD is lower than 8101. Horvat is either comparing points, not PPD (my guess), or is using HFM and has not downloaded new points data.

I'm showing 357377.8 for 8105 credit in HFM on the 4x6172 @ 2520 mhz with a 10:52 TPF for 473580.4 PPD. It's a far cry from the nasty 8101's.

Nope PPD. I currently do not have a snap shot to show. The only 8105 I have right now in on my X5690 server and that would not be a fair comparison to one of my X5670 rigs running an 8101.
