Your memory settings should run stably at the manufacture's specs of 1600Mhz with settings of 7-7-7-20 @ 1.80v since you are not overclocking the RAM. You should run Memtest at those settings. Before running Memtest, please try the settings in post # 29.

I also tried it at ram voltage 1.85v, then I tried 8-8-8-22 at 1.80v then at 1.85v and they all failed. So.. what are the assumptions at this point? Or should I test the memory at 8-8-8-22 @ 1.80v? Or would that be as pointless as running memory at 7-7-7-20 @1.85v and passing memtest since it's not at spec neither are at spec?

I'd have to say that either your RAM modules are starting to fail or your MoBo just plain doesn't like them.

Let's try something else...disable SLI and remove your second card, leaving one card in PCIE #1 slot and try the below settings. I might need a day or so before I can do any more testing, so I'll be back once I've tested the system with single video card like you mentioned.

At this point, I would think about replacing my RAM. It doesn't appear to be a temperature issue, as you are water cooling your CPU. Are you water cooling the chipset (NB/SB) and/or your GPU's? What are you temps when you run IBT? What temp monitoring program are you using?

Use the settings in post # 38 and substitute the Viper's manufacture's suggested settings for the RAM timings and voltage using the black slots. Edit - The first thing I would do in test my new RAM with a bootable version of Memtest, each stick individually in the first slot for 8 hours each.

Two things: 1. Try: P1: [Enabled](auto) P2: [Enabled] (auto) 2. If it will not run, I would RMA the board. Make sure that you keep a close watch of your SPP temps when you run it at 1.55v. IMHO, that is too high of a required voltage for you to be stable at 1600Mhz and with the hardware that you are running.

IMHO, that is too high of a required voltage for you to be stable at 1600Mhz and with the hardware that you are running. Tried the suggested settings and same result as before. After checking volts in BIOS according to what Jonny80 suggested, noting that the SPP was in the red, I didn't proceed in hopes someone would comment on it. I'll try volts in the green, but unless it passes IBT let's assume it failed and I won't post about it. danno428cj What do your temps look like when you start to run ITB? and if you run Prime95, does one core fail all the time? For Temps, under load the cpu gets upto 60c , spp and mcp really don't change much from idle to load at 51c. I haven't really ran Prime95 since everyone says to use IBT, but I ran it for awhile(20mins or so) at small ffts and had no issue. I then ran blend, and worker thread 1 and 2 failed immediately and 3 and 4 kept going, but I didn't know if that could cause an issue so after they finished the first 2 tests(5mins or so) I stopped them. Does this info change anything I should be pursing here? Should I go ahead with a RMA?

I haven't ran Prime Blend in a long, long time...does it state the reason for failure?

I ran Prime95 Blend for awhile, core 1 and 2 failed in under 10 mins at 1400/1600, but the other 2 ran for about 3 hours with no issue.

I think the only other differences in my configuration is that I have virtualization and intel speed step enabled. I have no reason to run the CPU balls to the wall all the time, it's my media center PC. I looked up you new memory on New Egg, stock voltage setting is 1.9V. But I doubt that is the problem. Have you ever had any hard locks or blue screen S/Ds? What are your power supply specs: single or multi rail? Amperage per 12V rail?

If you are speaking of the rig in your sig, there is a major difference between the two....you are running a x58 board which uses the Intel chipset, and he is running a 790i Ultra which uses the Nvidia chipset. Please do not recommend settings, especially voltage settings, based on your x58 board for the OP to use on his 790i Ultra. If you are speaking of a different rig that uses the Nvidia chipset, then fine.

By any chance do you have a different board that you can try the CPU on, or a different CPU that you could try on the Ultra? As jonny80s requested....have you tested your PSU?

The X58 system in my sig is for gaming/general use. The 790i with the Q9450 runs my media center setup and backup for doing stupid things on the other rig. Sorry for the confusion. I'm actually rebuilding the 790i setup tomorrow because my new HTPC case arrived today (better cooling design and more HDD/SSD slots, 6 3.5" slots versus 2). I digress. I'll post the full specs on timings/voltages/features tomorrow. I looked up his PSU on the Egg. It should have no problem running that system (and damn expensive for a 850W unit, $250??).

he can run small ftt, wich is all cpu no problem. which would lead me to believe it's the memory controller or the memory it self.
