Yes....you want to test your RAM at their rated spex of 8-8-8-24-2T 1800MHz. If both sticks pass the test then, as VistaHead said, the freezing issue is probably being caused by one of the GFX cards.

Try running the system for awhile with each GFX card individually to see if issues happen with a particular one....or if it only freezes while running SLI. EDIT: Also, run the GFX cards with no OC on them...stock settings.

Right now each stick is in black slot. Concerning video cards, donno if its true, but I think I saw a post about a year ago that 790 motherboards had problems with single or maybe SLI cards with 2Gb on board. The thing is that I have two Palit GTX285 2048Mb 648Mhz/2484Ghz ... hope its not the issue ... OC ? I never OC video, cause I'm a noob and donno how to do it :( sorry, this frequencies was reached by factory already when I bought it P.S. I AM VERY APPRECIATE FOR YOUR HELP!!! I wish I could thank you somehow ... It's ok, I understand, we all have things to do ;)

Hey Jeffrey, So what I managed to do today (just got back from work, 6:23 PM) is to test two sticks of ram in black slots - no errors for 8 hours, please see the pic below. At this point it is probably the chip holding you back. Reading soem other forums, some people had to switch to water and pump 1.6v into the chip for 4+ GHz. but you never know, please keep trying Jham and Vistaheads suggestions. Are you using any CPU stability programs? (Prime95, Intel Burn Test) P.S. in another post a person had freezing in games only. The SSP voltage needed a bump. try the highest green voltage on the SSP and see if that gives you any stability in games.

He may want to keep his RAM and FSB at 1800Mhz, and lower his CPU multiplier (and voltage) to get stable.

VistaHead So how is the PC performing? I can boot, I can play e.g. Mafia 2 for 10-15 min with freezes, then BSOD ... even Prime95 gives BSOD when I start "Blend" test. With the settings in the the Post #1, I pass easily Prime95 v.25.11 build 2 64bit - 11 hours, In-place large FFT's (maximum heat, power consumption, some RAM tested), Advanced - "Round off checking" CHECKED, but not "Blend", if I start stress with "Blend", it gives error right after the start with 1-2 cores (always different cores) and then I stop the test :(

i just have to say.. why would you overclock a extrem chip by uping the fsb. i just thought that if it was me.... wouldent you change the multiplyer. thats why you buy an extrem chip the multi is unlocked. just saying... what do you think.

Alex, Sorry I wasn't on yesterday...was helping my folks deal with a family emergency. Need you to test those 1800MHz settings with just 1 GFX card at a time as described in post #33 as soon as you can. If it is not one of the cards causing the issue then, we'll know we need to work on the CPU.

The FSB sets the speed for the rest of the system. It is the speed at wich all of the other components "talk" to each other. Since the OP is sorta maxing out at 4.0GHz. (1800FSB/4=450, 450*9=4.05GHz) we now need to take it down a little but we would want to try and keep the 1800 FSB. The next multi down is 8 (1800/4=450, 450*8=3.6GHz) This way all the components are still "talking" to each other at 450MHz. Lets say you want to OC by the multi. Lets shoot for the same 3.6GHz. Lets jack the multi to 12. (3600/12=300, 300*4=1200FSB) Now the whole system has been dumbed down to 300MHz with the same CPU speed of 3.6GHZ

jeffreyham Do you have time to try each card individually with the 1800MHz settings?? If not today, then tomorrow, but I will try right now with one and the second one for tomorrow, but please keep in mind that I can't get stable 1800- 4.05, cause after some time it gives me BSOD ... but I'll check right now anyway !

Gotchya. I'm starting to think that this may all boil down to your Corsair RAM "not playing nice" with your board.
PLEASE REMEMBER TO UPLOAD A COPY OF YOUR INVOICE = My Current Linked and Synced Settings All detailed system components are listed on my Mods Rigs page.

try 1800 FSB and a CPU multiplyer of 8 and see if that gives you any stability.

I find it slightly peculiar that he can pass stress tests but when in game he's having stability issues. I think something else is at play here. Possibly the GPU or a driver issue? Can you take a picture of the BSOD next time it happens?

Well, its me again, probably most of the people get bored of my problem, sorry guys ;) Anyway, I've made some tests and they all were with freezes and BSOD's First, I played Mafia 2, Chapter 5 with two cards, one for video - one for PhysX (cause it gives more boost then SLI) with the next settings : **Frequency Settings** CPU Freq, MHz – 4050 FSB Reference Clock, MHz – 1800 CPU Multiplier - [9X] PCIe x16_1 & 16_2, MHz - 100 PCIe x16_3, MHz - 100 SPP<->MCP Ref Clock, MHz - 200 **HT Multiplier** nForce SPP --> nForce MCP - [5 x] nForce SPP <-- nForce MCP - [5 x] **FSB & Memory Config** EPP 2.0 Memory [Disabled] FSB – Memory Clock Mode - [Linked] FSB – Memory Ratio - [Sync Mode] FSB (QDR), MHz - [1800] Actual FSB (QDR), MHz - 1800 x MEM (DDR), MHz - [Linked] Actual MEM (DDR), MHz - 1800 P1 - [Enabled] P2 - [Enabled] **Memory Timing Setting** Memory Timing Setting - [Expert] x tCL (CAS Latency) – 8 x tRCD - 8 x tRP – 8 x tRAS - 24 x Command Per Clock – 2T ** Advanced Memory Settings ** [Auto]. x tRRD [Auto(7)] x tRC [Auto(46)] x tWR [Auto(12)] x tWTR [Auto(19)] x tFAW [Auto(35)] X RFC [Auto(110)] x tREF 7.8uS **System Voltages** EVGA VDroop Control [Without VDroop] CPU Core – 1.5000 CPU FSB – 1.350V Memory – 1.800V nForce SPP – 1.37V nForce MCP – 1.550V CPU PLL [Auto] 1.5V GTLVREF Lane 0 +75mv GTLVREF Lane 1 +50mv GTLVREF Lane 2 [Auto] +00mv GTLVREF Lane 3 [Auto] +00mv And I got freezes and then BSOD maybe after 5-10 min playing

I'm sorry for MULTI POSTING but its the only way to attach all needed pic's to each message Second try was also Mafia 2, Chapter 5 with two cards, one for video - one for PhysX, but the setting were ... see the pic ... and I had only micro freezes sometimes, then 3-4 big ones (when u have to press Alt+tab and back) and NO BSOD's thankfully, I played for 20-30 min

The third case is when everything on default, auto , etc. No freezes, No BSOD's !!! Can play SLI or one for video - one for PhysX, NO PROBLEM at all P.S. Some how I just got couple freezes with the defaults ... whatta heck ... P.P.S. Set MEMORY voltage to AUTO and GTLVREF Lane 1 +20mv ... yet stable ... Mafia 2 chapter 7 P.P.P.S. Played from 7 to 11 Chapter ... not a single freeze on defaults

But the strangest thing is when everything is on default, auto , etc. the PC boots like this (see Pic 1) and then goes all the info (Pic 2) the settings on Pic 2 was taken a while ago so its just as an example, but when you OC the system the boot process starts like on the (Pic 3) , it freeze for 1-2 sec like that and only after all, other info appears (Pic 2) ... so what it may be ? another trouble ? the main reason of my freezes in games ? ohhh wish I could solve all that ...

ok, on your auto settings, only run the system on one card only, no SLI and no PhysX card. run it for a while. then try your other card on it's own and see what happens. also, i had a heck of a time with my Q6700 with FSB from 1600 to 1825. so try your settings from post #38 but the CPU multiplyer at 8 and set the FSB at 1900 unlink the ram and set the memory ratio to auto, leave the ram at 1800 run Intel Burn Test for 20 passes at maximum.
