Hello first time posting. Appreciate any and all opinions.

I have an EVGA 780 ti sc (no acx) and tried to overclock it once a while ago but only got +45 core clock and +50 memory. Pushing any more caused moderate artifacts. I didn't keep the oc because I felt it wasn't worth the increased noise. But recently got the itch to oc and wondered if getting the Arctic accelero xtreme iv would up the odds of a better oc.

I'm not interested in buying a 10XX series as I game at 1080p and I don't want to upgrade until there is a solid single card 4k solution. Hoping a 1080 ti can pull it off.

Think it's s waste of time to get the Arctic?

Have you tried increasing the voltage at all?

From my experience, the cooler you get the gpu the higher it will oc. So an aftermarket cooler would probably help the oc.

An AIO cooler (Corsair H55 for example) with an NZXT Kraken G10 is a good way to keep these cool, I have one on my second 780 Ti and it tops out at around 56c @ 1200MHz 1.212V.

I upped the voltage .75 in precision x. I was surprised it didn't really help much.

If you're going to upgrade at the 1080 ti launch then I wouldn't spend the time or effort to upgrade the cooler on a 780 ti unless you plan on keeping it in service in another PC once you upgrade. That's just my point of view. Others may disagree.

I totally get that. I just wanted to have a bit of fun with oc. Don't think it would help me get much more out of the card?

That cooler works very well on a GTX-980 and should work just as good for your 780 ti. If you really want to have some fun you'll need to have someone mod your VBIOS to unlock the Voltage and Power Limits. After that it's just about keeping the temps down.

The arctic will help keep the card cooler. Cards overclock better when they run cooler. Vbios modification may/may not help.
