Yeah, it does. They are 700 dollars and squeal like a pig. Performance wise, they run great. But, I do not expect coil whine that I can hear in the next room for 700 bucks.

true, i brought my card back to the shop

My  GTX780ti sc that went back to evga for rma, had also heavy coil whine, coil whine noise came above my Corsair H100i at balanced mode, but also give me corrupt picture at boot and some times in windows, black screen if I started a game, didn't go above 548 mhz most of the time, only after reboot it did go to 980mhz, till I started a game, then the problems started again.
Got my rma this week and no coil whine or other problems, only on the black cooler fins at the back, there were some brown spots at the fins, coloured these black with a marker, now I see some fins are more black as the other fins, but I can live with it, the card works like it should.
I saw that my former card needed 0,900v with idle, the new one only 0,886, at load the former card 1,200v and the new one 1.620v.
Happy evga gtx780ti sc user now, thanks to evga for the fast rma.

3 out of 3 had it so far. I will just keep taking them back till I get one that doesn't have coil whine.

Sad to report that both of my 780ti SC w/ACX have coil whine. It also doesn't help that the fans rattle from time to time. I'll try to RMA or even get a refund ...

People you know best your PC but maybe is time to check and PSU.
If you change your card soon maybe is power consumption bigger, clock different and noise came from PSU.
like I say you know best, but if it's hard to find source of noise and noise is present but hard to tell where than maybe is and PSU.
Graphic card usually whine louder and when you increase usage of GPU and power consumption.

I tried all 3 combinations (SLI, and one at a time). They do whine. My PSU is a corsair AX-850W (80+ gold) which never ever had any problem running my previous rig (670 SLI dcu2 from Asus).

OK but you could try card in some other PC, never mind PSU is excellent one of best, you never had problem, but Seasonic platform they are coil whine kings. OK CORSAIR had such problems to but most on Seasonic platforms. You changed GPU, power consumption, frequency and that can influence on noise. I don't want to say that's case but maybe.
You know best you are near PC.

Are you saying that the PSU would whine ? Or that the PSU would induce the whine on the GPUs ? The noise definitely comes from the GPU. Sadly I don't have any spare PSU available to try. I also tried a reference 780ti (Gainward, quieter than all the aftermarket ones I tried, oh the irony) and a Gigabyte WF3 OC 780ti (fans sucked but no coil whine), so it definitely looks like the cards are at fault here.

I'm not sure PSU can influence on GPU to produce coil whine but I'm absolutely sure PSU can whine and force you to blame everything else in PC and changing hardware as graphic cards can influence on normal PSU to start to produce noise.. One guy from service told me before some time 90% of coil whine came from PSU, only 10% can be connected with motherboard, pumps and graphic cards. Graphic card is near you, high frequency sound is such like came from everywhere.
See this video and that's most common how whine GPU, you must to tune volume more to hear ...

http://youtu.be/HP73edpQwgc

Such sound can came and from PSU, but in many case only high frequency ssssssssssssssssssss and that can be hear only when you are near PC not when you save video... and graphic card is first what you see and sometimes is normal to someone think that's graphic card, special if start after changing hardware... I can't say this is in your case but some little percent persist.

One more sound from graphic card... usually such similar different noises during full load and stop in idle, not always but usually...

Both my 770 ACX SC and 780 FTW have coil whine, but only when I've run the WinSAT test. I have not heard this sound while gaming.

The whine appears in game (tested with BF4). I wouldn't complain if this only happened outside ordinary conditions of use

Yes, of course. I was just stating I have coil whine on my cards too, which I'm not too thrilled about. If my coil whine happened during gaming, I would have definitely returned my card for a refund by now. It sounds like a drill at a dentist's office, loud and annoying. I couldn't deal with that.

I'm disappointed in EVGA. I went to Fry's (first one was from Amazon and is getting returned) and the card I got has the same exact issue. EVGA is pumping out some crap 700 dollar cards.

Coil whine does not indicate that the cards are crap.

if you pay 700+ bucks I would expect cards that don't have coil whine.

there are people who have gotten their cards RMA's three times and every single one has coil whine.

so either EVGA's quality has hit the **** dumpster after their success in previous cards and they don't care because people just heard about their quality(like me)

or EVGA's quality control has been **** lately.

A premium VGA card company shouldn't RMA coil whining card after coil whining card

you would expect after somebody RMAing their card for coil whine TWICE they would test the third card well to see if its coil whining

Evga states that each card that send for rma replacement has been tested and it's fine for the evga espectations. I don't beleieve it, both of my 770 double bios had

coil whine, the sencond had lower boost clock and worst cooler, some fins were not straight and nickel plated heatsinks although first card had copper heatsinks. I don't

know if I'm gonna return the card, because it was a hassle to send the replacement to me and to return back to them, almost a week to receive, a week to send the

f***ing ups return label to pick the card and almost a 2 week period to receive the money back because of Christmas. Plus I believe that last time I checked the card had

a little coil whine. I changed the psu, went from XFX pro series 750watt bronze to a Corsair RM750 gold, but at first the coil whine was exactly the same...In 3 days that

I will return home I will test the card again and I hope that the coil whine was temporary.

Well, I'm from Brazil and I brought my 780TI SC 2 weeks ago when I was in US, I have been using it since then and The COIL WHINE really bugs me...
If I send it to RMA I'll have to pay taxes for shipping internationally and taxes when receiving the GPU, it means I'm ****ed, I'll have to live with it...

Btw, battlefield 4 online sucks... The fps varies a lot depending on the map. The coil whine only happens when I'm stressing the GPU for example, playing BF4, Crysis 3, CS: Go
or benchmarking with furmark, heavens and so on.

I suggest you all to search over net example price of parts and write on paper and to build one Titan.
If price cross 200$ I will cut my fingers, they sell for 1000$. Track only eject one by one... But quality of productions is every year worse and worse, cards are expensive, less space for OC, dosing performance, and CEO of companies are more insolent and more play with our intelligent...
You use one of more expensive parts on GTX780Ti Classified Kingpin Edition I don't count chip and memory but after that maybe most expensive cost less than 3$ and that's probably best in class, only few such parts are inside, caps are 5-10 peace for 2-3$, or 1-2$ or 5$ world most expensive maybe, memory how much??? and how much cost chip if Intel sell 4cores CPU for 200$...I don't even count on plastic parts and connectors where litteraly 1kg maybe 1000 pieces cost less than 100$...
They ask 1000$ and that play with your minds and sell craps.
Go search over net look on card and count yourself how much cost...
Real price for Titan is 300-400$ all taxes covered, transport, shipping, packages, service and time of workers everything together such price can cover,
and with such money they can became ULTRA RICH.
For 500$ they have space to play with gold on PCB but they put craps and plus will locked card to force to by again.
They can cover whole PCB with gold foil probably less than 0.5gr, but I hope they will not do that because they will ask 2000$ for gold edition, with real gold.
World became very sad place because us, humans are source of galactic injustice and misery.

Just upgraded fom 2x gtx 680 to 2x gtx 780ti and thought I was the only one with coil whine until I saw this thread, mine whines in benchmarks when it hits very high fps such 3Dmark 1st test can't remember what it is called

hope evga has fix for it via a bios or firmware update, don't see a point to RMA for now as the next card might have a louder coil whine

evga hast for sure not a quallity controll, now my classi ti whine too... cheap(lol) trash cards, how they can coil whine in games where i have under 40 fps... shame on u. i wanted to go on water cooling for a silent computer beacuse the acx fans are crap too. but watercooling with that annying coil whine noise, that make no sense for me. and if someone says again now its ur psu... no i tested allready 2 psu (one corsair and one seasonic both platium) and the result is that the coil whine is with both psu the same no difference
Evga wasted a lot of time from me to test their quality cards

I have 3 way sli GTX 780 TI SC's, and ALL 3 of them whine.  I tried a single card one by one, every single one whines when they're above 60fps.  I tried two different PSU's.  Thermaltake 1200 Grand, and a Corsair AX1200, video cards still whined with two different PSU's.  It's annoying, but I learned to live with it.

Terrible annoyance though...

You don't get to live with it, it's 2 thousands euro / dollar worth of hardware, it should work as intended or be replaced (and tested beforehand). I'd understand on lower budget cards, but on these ...

I totally agree with you -- however, I have 3 waterblocks on these things already, and I really did not want to RMA them until I had proof that people were actually getting quiet cards even when running at 100+ FPS in games.

Yikes. I was just about to order an EVGA 780 TI Classified but I'd hate to have coil whine, so I may not buy it now.
RMA would be a pain as well as I live in Japan.

Mine is doing it REALLY badly. I tested it with two power supplies as I really didn't want to have to reinstall the factory cooler... Looks like I gotta do it and get it setup for an RMA. Here is a video:

my 780 sc acx had no coil whine. and coming from my stock ref 680 that had it REALLY bad. i was in heaven.  i just stepped up my 780 to the Ti and i can say that my Ti has VERY VERY slight coil whine. nothing to complain about. you really have to try to listen for it. as long as it stays like that ill be happy.

as for people complaining about it. yes i agree, if you're paying a lot of money (400 bucks or more) you should get a card that does not have this issue. but at the same time. that is why i AWESOME never buy reference cards. just  for the fact of the stock components that are placed on the card. also go for a classy or something that has high end chokes and mosfets. i hate to say this. i've AWAYS been with evga ever since my first computer i built  with a 7900 GT KO, i may be getting a Direct CU II card next time i buy a card. not just for the cooler, but also for the non ref PCB and components. i don't see many people complaining about coil whine with those cards OR other non ref cards. i know it sucks but the cost difference is usually only 20 bucks or so more and if I'm already paying 500 + bucks out , mind as well spend the extra 20 bucks.
