As some of you know, I thought it was time to make the move to an i7.  Here's my journey, it's short but sweet.

Here's the Cosmos-S I've had for a few years now.

This is the old 775- QX9650 setup at 3.8 Ghz. Do you think those 480's are feeling a little choked?
Patient prepped for surgery

Stripped out all the Stuff I wont be using anymore.

UPS man successfully looted!!!  Lets check the booty shall we?

SCORE!!!!! E770, i7-950, 6GB XMS and more!!

Close up of the new classified 3.  Aint she purty.

And look!! It's a perfect fit!!

H-70 hanging from the roof.

I think the other fan goes here..

Ohhh Noes!! the top wont fit!!      A little dremel action will take care of that!!

Well all the new stuffs in there..

One 480 to start with.  Paddles!!

It's alive, it's alive!!!!

Set that RAID for performance please!

It's all back in there now.  I just don't know what to do with those damn PCI-E power cables.  The rest of the cable's look pretty good though.

She's back up and running!!! EVGA rocks!! I love it when you can put it all together and it just works.  Now to figure out all this i7 overclocking stuff.  I think it's gonna be fun!!!  Thank for taking this trip with me I hope you enjoyed the ride. I sure did.

    Lookin good.
As for the pcie cables, just stuff em in. Nobody liked them anyways, and at least they will be hidden. I would suggest (if you find the time and money after this) getting 2 WD 500GB blacks. the RAID 0 performance of them is great, and they are well worth it.

Thank you for the Br and all the incouragement
    @ Darron
??  What pics are missing? They all show up here.

I havent started overclocking yet. I did run a couple of loops of IBT at stock and the CPU tem hovered between 33 and 34 C, if that give you any indication.  I knoe my QX only ran that cool at idle.

Hah, southpark FTW! For the tiny little experience I've had with it, I like it so far.  The one thing that I didn't notice when I bought it.  No optical out for sound!  Took me an hour to find that analog cable for my Z-5500.  Even still the speaker outputs are a little confused, sound for the left, right sub and center are all coming out of the center and sub at the same time.  Might be a driver thing though.
All in all it was a fairly straight forward build.  Things went together quickly and booted up first try.  I am hoping to make this a 4Ghz+ 24/7 machine.  Well see how it goes, I'd like to get back to folding now that the weather has finally cooled off.

Steve, surround is actually not TOO costly, just getting it to run great is. The HannsG HI221 often falls below 150, and it makes a great screen for surround. Sure, its only 1680X1050, but for a budget monitor, its great. Now, as for space, just remove the nearest wall and build a gaming bunker. HAHA!!
