So, on my 680i LT I remember seeing a small blue cap that covered 2 pins. Somehow that cap has gone missing and I am now receiving a cmos checksum error during post. I read it could be a bad cmos battery, so I ordered a new one since it was only $2 and mine is about 4 years old anyways. While I am still waiting for that in the mail, I was just wondering if I have to have that cap on pins 2 and 3 for the bios to load properly? Right now they reload to default every time. If so, where could I find a replacement cap?

Also, I'm not sure if this is related, but my rear case fan keeps going out and I have to restart multiple times to get it to start up again. It does work when I power it from anywhere else on the mb though...Any ideas?

Thanks bob! The foil worked well, that is, it got rid of the error code. I'll try to make it to a PC repair shop and try to pick up a cap for a more permanent solution. Do you think that could have been the cause for my rear fan to malfunction? I just hope my mobo isn't bad.
