take a look at these two screen shots. the computer was off. i booted into windows and started the burn in test (i did not have power draw unlocked) now i understand that this is a benchmark and i will not get these's temps in games BUT i did do 3d mark  vantage and the temps got pretty close to this. this is off my friends build and the card is way hotter than my 480gtx??  i thought that the card was not seated right so i took the HSF off and put new tim on it and this is what i got. no change.?

i noticed that the IHS of the gpu had these grey marks on it? not sure if they are burn marks but if you looked at the side of the gpu where you can see the solder beads. pcb of the gpu and then the ihs. it looked brown on the sides like that. not sure if the card is burning out or what? it works good no artifacts just i think this is way to hot for this card.

Sorry but since you dont't have 50 posts, you can't post links. They were removed... So what are the temps?

And just some quick help.

I'm guessing you're running two of these in SLI? If so, and your cards sit close, remember the top one will surely run up to 10c hotter, due to the fact that it's fan has lack of airflow, since the lower card is so close, and also the lower card will get more hot because the heat from the upper card.

But on those cards, the MAX temp that you should never exceed is 105c. You really don't wanna see anything above 80c. But I mean if it's 80-90c on benchmarks, and stuff. You''ll be fine, just check them while gaming on normal game settings, and hopefully they won't ever exceed 80c.

But 105c is where they start to basically burnout. And the marks you're talking about, is just from normal heat usually.

links are up now. dont understand why its not posting as pictures but whatever. notice in the first picture that its hitting 90C and the fan speed is at 100% i didnt let it run that much longer cause i think thats to much for benchmarking. i have allot of airflow in this case. i really dont see why its hitting these temps. my 480gtx only hits 80 MAX and the fan speed is only at 80%

Hmm, honestly 90c is normal for that card (At 99% usage). I mean hopefully in games, you won't even see 80c.

But if I were you, I'd make an aggressive fan profile.

I see you have it something like 40% at 60c.

I would have it like:
70% at 60c
80% at 75c
90% at 85c
100% at 90c

That should help. Yeah, I know it'll get abit loud, but atleast your fan is getting cooled a few more degrees. And like I said, hopefully with those fan settings, you won't see anything over 75-80c for sure.

If you don't know how to change your fan speeds at certain temps. On that graph, make sure you click the "User defined custom fan control", and then just click on the graph, where you want the settings. For instance, to set 70% at 60c. Find 60c, then go over, and mark it where 70% meets 60c. And so on.

Hope I helped! But yeah, no worries. It's kinda normal for that card. They run hot at max, air cooled. But they can also handle really high temps (Even though the cooler, the better). But I use to fold with my GTX 560 Ti at 85c, 24/7 with no prob.

Ok I'll give that a shot tomorrow and see how that does. I just don't want him to over heat his card. (he had little computer knowledge) I'll test it out with games I jus did a fresh install of windows (had a hdd boot sector virus) so I'll put a few games and see how It runs. All I can say is WOW does this fan make noise. I thought my 480gtx was loud but I take that bad. This has a whine to it. I wounded if msi sells their frozr cools by them self. I personally think this cool has a poor design.

Thanks for the build compliment:) I didnt try to go higher but I like the temps and voltage that 4.5 use so I just left it there. Runs cool on load to. Never over 65c :)

Lol yep, agreed.

And no problem man! Hope I helped!

But yeah, no worries as long as it's only that hot during benches, and not during normal gaming. Also I know what you mean on the sound, I even think a GTX 590 is louder
