Hello everyone, I really dont know what to do. I currently have the BenQ Xl2430T and it is AMAZING. The panel really loooks amazing as if I am using an IPS panel. No backlight bleed and the blacks are actually black. HOWEVER, I was thinking, is it better to upgrade to 4K monitor with 60Hz? or 27 inch 144Hz monitor (I found another BenQ that is 27 inch TN panel with QHD). That is the only brand that I can buy a TN panel from. BenQ are just amazing with that. So should I stick with what I have? Get a 4K monitor with 60Hz or get the 27 inch BenQ? What i was thinking is that the quality of the image will be the same going from 1080p 24 inch to QHD 27 inch. They have the same ratio if you know what I mean? Any help is appreciated. Thank you!

The grass is always greener on the other side. Don't just upgrade to upgrade. Pick specific parts that you know specifically are worth upgrading to, not just some general idea that maybe 4k sounds good. The idea of something doesn't always equate out to actually being good for your personal needs. Look at the potential update in the context of how you use your computer and will it actually make things more useful? No one is going to be able to answer those sort of questions for you and those are really the important questions that need to be pondered.

Brad pretty much nailed that one. Plus, I couldn't comment with you being a fan of BenQ, and I would completely stay away from BenQ - I'll leave that ball in your court and won't mess with it any further, that's a personal choice on the brand you like. 4K and QHD... What I would do is go to different stores and see which ones look good. They both have great results. 4K is more demanding so you're going to need some really good hardware, and from the looks of things, a single GTX1080 will be very limited if you're the type that wants to max out all the graphics. Just don't expect to get good framerates with a single 1080 and maxing out the graphics while in 4K. I will add that I did see your post but I wasn't sure how to answer it. I can't tell you that 4K is good when you're still considering QHD or vise versa. QHD has its benefits too, but it has its limitations just like 4K does.

You haven't mentioned what you primarily do with your rig but one would assume your a gamer first as you initially chose a TN panel. As said above I would also agree. However I like many others we upgrade because we can and not because we need too. So with that in mind and if your adamant to upgrade, I wouldn't go near a 4k for gaming and choose a quality (reviewed) >27" 1440p monitor and if you can get it with NVidia gsync all the better:)

Here are some things I would think about. If you play a lot of FPS games, I would look into a high refresh rate monitor. If you want to go to a 4K resolution monitor, you need to make sure you have enough GPU to push decent frame rates at that resolution. Unless you have a GTX 1080, I wouldn't recommend 4K. The 1440p monitors are are where you can still get a higher resolution but still have 100Hz+ refresh rates. Even then, you still need a powerful set-up to maintain high frame rates at 1440p. I would recommend looking into a crossover 2710 if you go down that path, but I would make sure your GPU is ready for it.

4k is terrible for gaming. 1440p is where it's at. Also if you're going to get a high refresh rate display, you better get gsync otherwise that high refreshrate is going to be a negative due to all of the tearing you'll encounter.
Not my fault if you're offended.

Thank you all for your input. Okay now 4K is out of the picture. Now, I have a 980 TI and thinking of getting another one since they are extremely cheap now. I play FPS games and RTS games too. Now the question is, 1080P 24 inch vs QHD 27 inch? The picture quality should be the same since yes it does have more pixels, but also a larger size. So basically it will be same quality as 1080p but at a bigger 27 inch panel. Correct?

That would be a nice upgrade. I love my 1440. I have this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01EN3Z7QQ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1. The only thing is that it is only 75hz refresh, had to go with what I could justify spending at the time. I have a 980Ti as well and I have no problem maxing out settings and getting at least 60 fps. Most games I average around 70 on stock clock speeds, better if I OC. FO4, Tomb Raider, Witcher 3 to name a few.

I personally use a ROG Swift, 1440p 144Hz Gsync, and it is awesome, I know the first wave of them had some QC issues, but later on they were really solid. If I were you, my choice would completely depending on my plans of future upgrades. If you are not planning on upgrading your video card for an extended period of time, grab a QHD 120+ Gsync. If you upgrade video cards fairly regularly (every other generation for example), I would wait. With 4k @ 120 now being possible natively on cards, I would wait until a 4k 120+Hz GSync is out, and a good sale to bring the price down and hold out for the next gen of GPU to drive it really well. I think by the time the replacement for the 1080 is out, you can drive a 4k above 60FPS consistently in demanding games.

It might not be as far away as you think. I currently have the Dell 27" 1440 @144hz Gsync monitor and it's nice. I want a 4k really bad but I'm waiting until they hit 120hz with Gsync. Also the one you linked is freesync. From my understanding that doesn't work with NVidia cards.

I have a 4K/60 monitor and it looks great. If you would be going from 144hz refresh to it I don't know if you'd like the increase in motion blur from the lower refresh. The resolution itself is awesome, and it looks great. You definitely need at least a 1080 to drive 4K, and then in the most demanding modern games you still won't hit 60fps consistently without SLI or a Titan XP. I'd say another 1-2 years the 4K/120 gsync monitors will be out, and 1 or 2 generations past the 1080s will be out that are capable of driving them. Might be a good idea to just sit tight till then and enjoy what you have, and save your pennies.

I've had various high refresh rate monitors going way back (got my first 120 Hz in 2010), and ran 4k for a while as well. 4k is nice, high refresh rate is nice, but by far the nicest feature is G-sync (or Free-sync if ya AMD). I highly recommend going 27" QHD G-sync. Game changer, really.

Honestly, I don't think it will be that far off. One of the shows a couple months ago ASUS announced one and had a demo. Obviously it is still out a bit, but I suggested it because I **think** NO DEFINITIVE EVIDENCE HERE, but I suspect we will start seeing them available within the next 6 months. m0demb0y I've had various high refresh rate monitors going way back (got my first 120 Hz in 2010), and ran 4k for a while as well. 4k is nice, high refresh rate is nice, but by far the nicest feature is G-sync (or Free-sync if ya AMD). I went from 1200p 60Hz to my ROG Swift, and I have to agree. It is imho the best choice today to go 1440p/120+/GSync (Freesync for AMD), and with the reduction in motion blur, tearing etc, it is as said above quite LITERALLY a Game changer :)

I've got a 27" Dell 1440p/144Hz/Gsync monitor and a 980ti with no issue in performance. Turning down the AA settings I constantly maintain over 100FPS in BF4. I play BattleField, Overwatch, SC2, LoL and in every game both the refresh and increased pixels made a huge difference. I went from 1080/60->1440/60->1440/144 and each step was a big upgrade. Yes I can tell the difference between 60/120+ Hz even in FPS games especially when scrolling around. Just make sure you get GSync (not Freesync) assuming you are sticking with nVidia cards... That BenQ you linked from Newegg is Freesync.
