Okay, quick question about your monitor.  Does it have more than one input on the back?  For instance, I have two HD displays that have both HDMI and VGA inputs on each monitor.  Do you have something similar, a DVI and VGA connector, perhaps?

Unless there's something new in the 191.07 drivers, clicking on the Set Up Multiple Displays option in the control panel should show all the monitors available.

Unless you're referring to the windows Display Settings (Right Click on desktop > Personalize > Display Settings)

that is what evga CS told me to do on my 295gtx, ( EVGA  KYLE ) so i don't know... otherwise try plugged in a dummy plug or another monitor onto the 2 gfx and see if the 295 recongized by the window

Any chance you've got a spare cable lying around that you can connect to another input on your card and plug into one of those other inputs?

I don't see where you're talking either, WB.  There are no settings on the right...only "Setup Multiple Displays" as shown on the screenshot provided.

Just for giggles, try this:

Right click on your desktop > Personalize > Display Settings
How many monitors does Windows think you have?  (They will show grayed out, like the attached screenshot) They should look kindof like this:

Okay, clarify this for me.  You have just the one monitor, yes?  That resolution is sick at 2500x1600.  How big is that thing?

As for the display...I should have known Windows 7 would change a good thing...anyway, there are no other displays in that drop-down, the one that shows your dell display, correct?

ok i just remember 1 thing. do you have a single or dual pcb 295????

on the single pcb 295 you MUST use dummy plug on the second GFX in order for the desktop to recongized the 2nd display. sort of stupid, but that is the only way it can extended desktop on the single pcb 295

Okay, if you can extend your desktop to those 4 monitors, then you should be able to use the original instructions at the beginning of this post topic to create 4 instances of the FaH GPU executable, being sure that each instance is configured with it's own Machine ID.

As long as windows recognizes the displays and you can extend your desktop to them (your mouse should be able to vanish off the screen for a considerable amount of time as you move it to the right), then the Fah program should run 1 per display.

OOPS...Check the Nvidia Control panel first to make sure those monitors are visible there as well.  Then you want to make sure that all 4 are selected.

In another writeup someone adds -advmethods to the shortcut after -gpu X, is that necessary?  I thought that was just for SMP?

BTW thanks for the ZIP, I am building another rig over this weekend and that should be quite helpful.

S1ngular - is it going yet?  Reason I ask is that with the latest drivers and single PCB 295 I found that it would not see the 2nd GPU for folding unless I SHUT IT DOWN instead of a reboot.  Logical - NO, but that is what it required to work.

is not necessary , but it couldn't hurt. so you can just add the extra line after the ( -gpu 0 -advmethods ) and I haven't really see any advmethods on my log files , so I don't know too much about them. But on the advmethods " you can take the risk of EUE or card running HOT" or maybe not, but I don't know for sure.

Re:4 GPU folding Clients setup 2009/12/03 05:52:19 (permalink)
Ok, so i've followed the instructions carefully (I think)
and can still only fold on 1 gpu
My set up is below, but GPU's are:
1 X gtx285
1 X 8800gtx 640
No overclocking on the GPU's
Not fred is running on the cpu stable @ 4.0

I have:
Win 7 64 bit
a dummy plug on the 8800
2 monitors shown in Nvidia control panel, and the desk top is extended.
Drivers are the latest: 8.17.11.9539

now these new drivers are suposed to support mixed GPU's!!!!!

The 285 is folding 1% every 40 > 42 seconds, so thats running fine (as it did before i added the 8800)
the 8800 however is failing every time

That´s because you have mismatching cards
You need the new fahcore11
http://www.stanford.edu/~friedrim/FahCore_11.exe
Replace your existing ones between work units and it should work.

edit: to make sure delete fahcore 14 as well. It will download the new one which works with mismatching cards

I have a couple of boards that I am going to put a single slot 9800 gt in between 9800 gx2 cards (temp experimenting)

I assume this fah11.exe file still applies?

I have done a lot of folding, but never mixed
