my 970 3975 from the beginning, ive installed it i think 1st week of Feb, has always had some coil whine, didnt really bother me, it was audible through the case which is about 1.5 ft away, but low enough and not frequent enough that i didnt worry too much.

Last night, the whine grew 5x, before it whined in certain game menu screens and other instances in games like cut scenes etc, now the whines so loud right when i open my browswer (chrome or firefox on the homepage) its pretty ridiculous

i am about to open up warranty claim

anybody else having issues with their 3975 that just popped up/magnified overnight?

I would contact EVGA customer support.
I would think your card became loader in noise level because the thermal pads no longer are dampening the noise from the components that are causing the whine.
The card has a "front plate"  under the cooler that are in contact with the memory and some of the outher components (that can cause whining noise). If those components would get lose from the pads, or started to make direct contact with the metal plate they would start to make louder noises.

    sorry, for using cuss words

so this weekend, im bringing the 970 to a buddy's house, were gonna swap his 780ti sli for my 970 and benchmark and see if the coil whine is still there, better or worst etc. Also swap his 780ti into my rig and see if i get whine etc as well

FYI, my same current rig ran a evga 750ti for about 2 months with minimal coil whine, swapped to the 970 - minimal coil whine for 1 month then boom coil whine 5x louder just overnight one day and now whining all the time :(

cant really tell you, because i couldn't guarantee i can duplicate and remember what i disabled and whatnot

my motherboard is a m5a97 r2.0 asus, went into advanced and changed pretty much anything that was on "automatic" to disable for CPU and north/southbridges

i believe i changed like 7-9 different things,

i should have gone and changed one setting at a time, but i was too eager to try it out and changed everything i could at once, then was amazed it worked so i kept it that way xD

Can you post pictures of your BOIS settings?

I'm sure someone can figure out what settings affect the PICe power.
