3440x1440 - upgrade to 980 now or wait for 980 ti?

I recently got myself a 3440x1440 monitor, and my 780 (non ti) is struggling a bit to keep up.


How big of an upgrade would the 980 be at that resolution? From the sound of the rumors it seems like the 980 ti wouldn't be that much out, so maybe i can get the 980 now and step up to the ti later?

    1) they might not have the 980TI out in time for you to Step-Up too 
    2) if it does come out, there is  NO guarantee EVGA will put it on the step up program list
     
    You're taking your chances on a lot of 'if's '  &  ' maybe's ' .....

    What is presently available is the GTX 980 or the GTX Titan. For that monitor and if funds are available the GTX Titan would be my number 1 choice. The GTX 980 is certainly a good choice as well.
